“Yes, please, tell me how I should do my job some more.”
“Dude.. I was just messing. Calm down a little.”
“Don’t be a creep.”
“I would apologize but I’m not even a little sorry.”
“Very much so.”
“You’re crazy. What did they even do?”
Cordelia’s head tilts as she surveys her body, nothing appeared broken or too badly cut, but she could smell blood. “If you’re sure.” She nods and meets her eye. “I’ll stay where I am unless you need assistance.” she does step forward though, but only slightly.
“I’m sure. If anything is broken, it’ll heal up on it’s own.” Maxine went to stand but winced harshly and grabbed her side. Possible broken rib. Maybe skidng into a tree to stop herself was a bad idea. “Assistance would be great actually.”
“I’m going to assume you don’t want the overly obvious answer. You’re about two miles from town.” Cordelia had happened across her but kept a safe distance. Wolves tended to be unpredictable. “Are you injured?”
Maxine groaned and opened her eyes. “Two miles? Damn.” She sat up slowly, settling her eyes on the one who spoke. “Head and side hurt. Nothing seems to be missing, think I’m good. You don’t have anything to be cautious about, don’t hate vamps.”
I know I’m more than skin and bones.
“Yeah, Max, I’m alright. Met a warlock - fixed me up pretty good.” She sits up a bit too. “You though, what were you thinking?”
“Awesome. Good.” Max took in a breath and winced, grabbing her side. “That asshole shot you, I wasn’t gonna let him get away with it. You’d do the same for me.”
“Why were you chasing after someone?”
"Because they hurt my sister. I wanted to make sure they paid for it.” She shrugged.
“Covington, last time I checked”
“No, shit. Been here a few weeks.” She sat up and looked around. “Great, the woods. Who are you?”
“You’re home, kid.” Quinn says from where she’s seated next to her.Â
“Quinn. Good. Are you okay?” She shifted so that she sit herself up.
“Sure, do you even know what happened?”
“A lot. Was after some asshole. Think I got hit in the head.”
“From where I am standing, it looks like the floor.”
“Aren’t you helpful. Would you be nice enough to help me up?”
“A-Are you okay?”
“I’ll live. Any chance I can get a glass of water or something?”
“Well you’re on the ground”
“Thanks for stating the obvious. I meant location.”
“ow. where am I?”
“Right? It brings out a certain – color in the clouds that surround it.”
“I guess you could say that.”
“Blunt too? Even better. What are you doing for the full moon?”
“I take pride in that. Weeds out the weaklings.” She laughed lightly. “Playing a little game of moonlight tag. Why do you ask?”
