Adrien: Marinette's right. Lila is a pathological liar, and she lies very well. She can't be trusted.

Alya and Nino: Aw, how cute! You two are so in love you're even siding with Marinette over this even though it makes no sense!

Honestly, even if Marinette had continued to attempt to expose Lila, I doubt it would have worked. Lila is way, WAY too good at improvising ways to trick people. And just pointing out an incongruity in which ear Lila said had Tinnitus is highly unlikely to be enough to bust everything wide open.

See, here’s something I love about Marinette: she ain’t a victim-blamer. She understands why people want to give second chances, why they might believe Lila, why they might try to extend kindness and understanding even to people she doesn’t like. Unfortunately, sometimes that kindness is misplaced and is used as a tool by unscrupulous people. Doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing to be kind and understanding, just that you have to be alert for those who will take advantage of it.

I love Marinette having panic attack the second she’s out of sight. She’s gotten better at keeping her cool when it counts, but that doesn’t mean she’s suddenly become preternaturally calm and composed. Which is one of the things I like about her character. She can do some awesome things, but she’s clearly not emotionally superhuman.
