“On August 25, 1975, all the aces came up, the sevens rolled round and an endless river of noise and silver poured forth from the mouth of the one-armed bandit of rock ‘n’ roll — JACKPOT! Bingo! Bull’s-eye! We had a HIT!”
— Bruce Springsteen on the release of “Born to Run”
i love darlington county sooo much it’s the musical equivalent of a dumb 80s buddy movie. like the set up of “we drove 800 miles without seeing a cop” ending in “see wayne handcuffed to the bumper of a state troopers car” literally reads like a punchline in an idiotic movie.
what hurts most is that you're worth every single tear i shed over you.

/Something that they just can't face/
/Some folks spend their whole lives trying to keep it/
/They carry it with them every step that they take/
/Till some day they just cut it loose/
/Cut it loose or let it drag 'em down/
/Where no one asks any questions/
/Or looks too long in your face/
