               Brooke approached him and shot him a quick grin.  “You’re not so bad yourself Gilbert.”  She nodded back to her car before she started walking.  “We can drive if you want but I think this town is probably small enough that walking is better.”  She slipped her hands into her back pockets as she started off down the sidewalk with Jeremy in step with her.  “I’m sure you’ve already seen most of this place but I think there’s a couple places worth visiting with a local.”  She glanced up at the male and bit her lip softly.  “Are you hungry?  We can stop for food on the way if you want.”

                Jeremy smirked at her reply, “Thanks,” he spoke, humming lightly as he contemplated the options for a moment before nodding toward the direction that they were heading in, “Let’s walk it,” he replied, starting to do just that once he knew she was walking with him. “Yeah? I’m down,” he nodded. As if on queue, he felt his stomach growl, and he nodded once more, “Yeah, let’s grab something to eat — lady’s choice.”

               Friday night could not have come fast enough for Brooke.  She’d spent most of her time thinking about it as she waited impatiently for the evening to come and now that it was here, she was more excited than she could ever remember being for any other date.  If she didn’t know better, Brooke might think she was actually a little nervous about tonight.  She locked her car and took her phone out from her back pocket, checking for messages as she walked up to the cafe, which was just closing now.  She spotted Jeremy leaning against the building and gave him a quick wave.  “Hey you, ready for get the hell out of here and have a good time?”

                Jeremy looked up from his phone as she heard Brooke speak, returning her wave with a little smile. “Hey.. you have no idea,” he replied with a little laugh. He looked her over as she got closer, a soft grin on his lips, “You look really nice,” he spoke, waiting for her to reach where he was standing, gesturing for her to lead the way, “After you,” he said, starting to walk with her.

he snorted lightly, fingers tightening on her hips when she rolled against him. his eyes darkened just slightly, giving her a warning glint before he continued on with their regular BANTER. they weren’t ever not arguing, apparently. not even now, in bed, with her looking at him like that and his hands having all too much freedom to just…wander. she still fucking ARGUED with him. “that sounds like a challenge, little gilbert.” 

jer groaned softly, feeling his fingers tighten on her hips. she saw the way his eyes darkened and she smirked, her hands reaching down to take his from her hips, weaving her fingers through his before playfully pinning his hands against the bed on either side of his head with a smirk. “i’d say you should consider it as such,” she nodded, leaning in and pressing a heated kiss to his lips.

He grinned against her when her hands gripped his hair. He enjoyed that reaction. He knew it would hurt a little more than before, but he could handle it. He would handle it. He wanted this to be good for her. Carter’s tongue and lips work her clit as he added another finger, moving them at a slow pace. He wanted the buildup to be slow, wanted to drag this out as long as he could. His lips wrapped around her nub, sucking lightly as his fingers moved harder.

She let out a moan as his tongue and lips worked at her clit, feeling him add another finger as well, thrusting them into her slowly. Her back arched, her head falling back against the pillow as her hips lifted to meet his touches, her fingers moving through his hair as she lightly tugged on it. “Carter,” she groaned, “you feel so, so good.” A whimper left her lips as he sucked at her clit, his fingers moving harder. “Oh fuck,” she gasped.

                Carter sucked in a breath when she brought his hand to her stomach. It was still flat and he knew it would be a few months before there was a physical representation of what they did. But still, he felt his excitement grow. He rested his head gently against hers, taking a deep breath and trying to get himself to calm down. “A baby,” he whispered. “We’re going to have a baby. God, I really hope she looks like you.”

                  She smiled wide as she saw his excitement seem to grow. As his forehead rested against hers, she let out a happy little laugh, “A baby,” she nodded. Her head tilted lightly as she looked up at him curiously, “She, huh? How do you know that we won’t have a boy?” she asked with a little smirk. “Besides, I have my fingers crossed that they have your eyes for sure.”

He didn’t know how to answer her question. Physically, he’d probably be fine. There was no reason he shouldn’t be. But mentally and emotionally? He wasn’t sure. He’d been tortured plenty of times in the past but watching Jerrica get hurt because of him was a different level. Not only that, but he had put their friends in danger by flapping his lips. If anything happened to them, he would never forgive himself. 

“I’ll be fine,” he murmured, glancing over at her before looking down at his torso. It’d heal. And even if it didn’t, that was fine by him as long as they found their friends safe.

Jerrica nodded at his response, her hand moving to squeeze his. It likely wasn’t the most comforting gesture, but it would do for now, until they had time to have a more serious talk. “Wait a second,” she spoke before hurrying back into the room where the captor had held them, moving to his corpse to look through his pockets, pulling out his phone. 

“Do you know anyone’s number from memory?” she called out to Carter, breathing a sigh of relief as the phone didn’t have a passcode. She scrolled through the man’s texts, seeing a text exchange between someone who he’d been sharing information on their friends with, quickly typing out a text saying ‘Turns out they were lying.. some sort of diversion. Need more time.’ Hitting send, she looked up, eyes searching for him.

             A human life with the woman he loved and their child ( or children ). He had never thought about it until after he had become a vampire. But by that point, he couldn’t have it. And now…now…Carter let out a shaky breath, pulling her into a tight hug. “I love you, Jerrica. So much. I can’t believe that this is happening.” He pulled back enough to pepper kisses against her face. “You’ll tell me if you change your mind, right?”

              Jerrica grinned, returning his hug, placing a kiss against his neck as she did, her arms squeezing him tightly. She let out a laugh as he peppered kisses over her face, her nose scrunching as she giggled, her hands moving to his cheeks, bringing him in for another short kiss. “I’m not going to change my mind. You’re.. Carter, you’re everything that I’ve ever wanted. We’re perfect for each other,” she said before reaching for his hand, guiding it to her stomach, “and soon enough we’ll have another person to add to that perfect equation.”

           He was going to be a dad. He was going to be a dad. He couldn’t believe it. His lips spread into a wide grin and Carter bent down, scooping her up into his arms. He was sure that he would panic and freak out later, once it had sunk in. For now, he embraced his excitement. “A baby. We’re going to have a baby. Jerrica…” He set her back down on her feet, pressing his lips against hers. “Are you okay? Are you happy? Is this what you want?”

            She giggled as he scooped her up into his arms, holding onto him tightly. His excitement was enough to make her own that much stronger. She loved to see him happy, and this was the most excited that she had ever seen him. As he sat her back onto her feet, she returned his kiss, letting out a soft sigh at the contact of his lips against hers. “I am, and it is,” she nodded. “I mean, I’m.. I’m sort of scared, and nervous but.. this is what we wanted — a life together, and a human life at that. I’m happy, and I love you.”

          Jer gave him a little smile as he cupped her cheeks, her hands moving to rest against his sides. She nodded, her hands rubbing gently up and down his sides, “Seriously. You’re going to be a dad,” she grinned, her arms sliding around his waist. It was a terrifying thought, that they were going to be responsible for another life, yet she knew that if she was going to do this, there was no better choice of who to do this with than Carter.

she was adorable when she was like this, though he was pretty sure he could officially find her ADORABLE in any and every context he could think of. except for when she was wielding a crossbow that was about half her size and taking down vampires TWICE her size — then she was just plain hot. his fingers smoothed through her hair trailing lightly along her back as he snickered against the crown of her head. “glad to hear i taught you everything you know,” he teased back, pulling her in a bit tighter towards him, liking the sense of warmth and security that she brought along with her. “you should write me a thank you card or something.”

she let out a soft sigh as his fingers moved over her hair, the touch soothing to her. it amazed her at times, how someone that she’d shared such animosity with in the past could touch her so tenderly, yet she supposed back then, the two of them had really never bothered to push past the walls that they’d each put up. “i wouldn’t go that far,” she said with a playful roll of her eyes. her body pressed closer to his before her hips rolled down teasingly into his, “i can do better than that.”
