The end of her mechanical pen taps at her chin as she continues her calculations. The sounds of scribbling and pen against paper could easily be heard though they weren’t too distracting.
A minute turned to thirty, thirty turns into an hour. Vendra slowly leans back into her chair as she looks over her finished design. She seemed pleased with it.
Turning her head, Vendra was pleased to see the small one still resting upon her pillow. A small smile was given before placing the blueprint among the others in her folder.
The child had accidentally drifted off to sleep, getting far too comfortable on the pillow. The fact that they were even resting was an incredible thing, that being said, for just looking at the child it was clear that they were dead asleep. Sleep was a blissful thing, something that Six had not embraced for a long while. Despite them being in a deep sleep -- the child could be woken up by anything at any time. Fear had spawned that habit.
The child didn’t dream -- just a void of the mind that the small one’s sanity craved. Despite this lack of imagination and outworld-ish fantasy, Six was fine with the lack of dreams.
vilehagg:
Making sure the pillow was comfortable enough and that Six hadn’t ran away yet, Vendra went back to her work station on the other side of the room. She would not mind if they stayed. Vendra could honestly use the company. Even if they couldn’t speak, the notion that they were there was good enough for her. Vendra was awfully lonely.
Taking her seat, her mind filled with calculations and numbers as she looked over her latest blueprint. A weapon designed to recycle water and then freeze it to launch sharp frozen icicles at her opponents. The launching mechanism would be strong enough to have the icicles pierce through flesh if she could just figure out the right measurements.
As soon as the other turned away, the tapping of their feet on the floor was heard. Quickly, they rushed over to the cushion, not wanting the other to see them. Six jumped onto the pillow, throwing themselves on it. After bouncing a bit due to the sudden force, they simply laid on the pillow, embracing the cushion happily. For once, they weren't sleeping on the cold floor. Instead, they were laying on the comfy cushion.
In order to keep warm, Six curled themself into a ball, putting their arms around their legs. With a small tug of their hood, and an eye kept on the other, Six laid there, content with the cushion.
vilehagg:
She honestly shouldn’t be surprised if Six was uncertain about her offer. After all Vendra wasn’t the most appealing person to look at. One could get bad vibes just from her looks.
Regardless of that notion, Vendra walked away for a moment. She returned however, a small magenta pillow in hand. She didn’t immediately place it down, instead allowing for Six to get a good glance at it before setting it down a distance away from the small entity.
“Here. Just in case if you want it. Be mindful of my inventions across the counter though. None of them are turned on but they can be dangerous.”
Six wasn’t scared of the other’s looks -- compared to the people in the Maw, this woman seemed quite tame. No, for what bothered them was the impending potential death that lingered over the head of them. For all Six knew, this person could be planning to eat them alive as soon as they fell asleep.
As the other set down the pillow, the child stood up straight, arms now at the sides of their dirty yellow raincoat. Once again there was a pause. Six was tired, the urge of sleep scratching at the back of their mind as the need for it slowly grew. Still, they were hesitant to comply. The child would wait until the other would look away -- then they would rush over and embrace the cushion that was presented to them. It was risky, but the child needed this -- for sanity reasons.
vilehagg:
How unfortunate. Though as she observed the small one, Vendra couldn’t help but feel a degree of sympathy for it. No doubt being so small made them easy prey. She could… understand that to a certain degree. The witch wasn’t always so powerful after all. More than likely one of the weakest and smallest children about. Easy prey for those that were once bigger than her.
“That is alright. Would you like a more comfortable spot? I have a pillow you could rest upon.” The witch offered.
Despite the fact that the small one was constantly in trouble – they always prevailed due to their own bravery. Anyone could easily add that they are an easy target – at least from the first look. Six, despite being small, has their advantages. Some uplifting, and some just disturbing.
The small one looked at the other with uncertainty, taking a step back in a small amount of fear. The idea of the other smothering them with a pillow came up in their mind, whispering like the devil in their ear. Though, Six was horribly tired – their tiresome adventures wearing on them. In the end, the child simply stood there, suspicious and a tad fear-stricken.
vilehagg:
Vendra was pleasantly surprised when the small entity waved back. Pointed ears perking up as a slightly curious expression graced across her pale features. She had never seen a creature of this size before. Well, an organic one anyway.
“…Can you speak?”
They paused. Putting their hands on their hood and pulling it down, the hooded child once again embraced the silence. Eyes scanned the other’s movements, starting what seemed like daggers into the other. Not that the other would be able to tell -- with their face being covered and such. After that seemingly long pause, the small being shook their head.

@littleiisms
The space witch can’t help but stare. She means it no harm though. After all, it was so small. What could it do to her?
She gives a tiny wave to see if it’ll respond. To figure out if it has a degree of intelligence to it or not.
The small one paused, staring up at the other with their eyes from under their hood. Silence lingered. Normally, the things they encountered only decided to CONSUME THEIR FLESH or COOK THEM ALIVE, so -- this was a slight nice change. Six waved back a bit hesitantly, preparing to run at any time. Just in case.
