@thesour-sweetheart
“There are other mermaids!? How many? I always thought they never existed!” She continued, in awe about what she was hearing. Linda had knew that inkwell isle was the home of many peculiar toons but not mermaids! Her parents would always read stories about these mystical creatures, but she never knew that they were real!
“Quite a lot! Well, there were when I last saw them.” Of course that was many ages ago. At least two hundred or so. For all she knows they could’ve gone extinct by then. Hopefully not considering she’d still like to be in charge of them. Cala couldn’t help but chuckle as she looked upon the girl. She was quite in awe, wasn’t she?
alcaxponciano:
“That makes a lot of sense.” Alca responded, crossing her arms in thought. “I’ve moved here almost three years ago and have never heard from other people about you. I am aware of a pirate ship that sits near the shore from time to time, though I’ve only seen it on a few occasions.” Her house was between the city and the beach so sometimes she can see a bit of the ship, but that was about it.
A lot of the books and tales she has read as a child have stated that mermaids have been around for centuries if not thousands of years even, so she figured that this mermaid could have been around for that same amount of time. There was no point in asking.
“About me?” She asked. Maybe the other was asking about her life story, but Alca wasn’t one to full on blurt out personal information to a stranger, considering what she has done. She still had to be careful from saying too much.
“My name is Alca.” She started with a small smile. “Like I said, I moved here about three years ago from a place called Chicago. It’s a city with a beach just like here, but by a giant lake instead of an ocean. As far as I know, no mermaids have ever been spotted around there.” If there was, she would know about it. The media would go crazy for such discoveries if it weren’t too busy focusing on other things like celebrities and crime. “I lost a business I owned for years and rather than get into trouble trying to start it up again, I decided it was best to get away and start over. The further away, the better. Though, I do miss home from time to time”
A scowl spread across her features at the mention of a pirate ship. The mermaid knew exactly who she was referring to; Captain Brineybeard. Of all the beings in and around Inkwell and it’s different isles there was no one she hated more than him. Not even the devil himself warranted the same hatred Cala Maria felt for that single man! One day she’ll get the drop on him and she’ll tear her razor sharp teeth and claws into him! It’ll be a glorious and wonderful day~!
The mermaid is quick to put her calmer and friendly demeanor back on. She’d rather not be questioned as to why she hated the pirate and his ship so much. Her pride was forever burned because of it.
Cala didn’t intend to hear about a life story, merely curious to know about this individual. She knew a fair amount of people around Inkwell (and being on good terms with them) so seeing a new face and knowing them just a tad never hurt.
“Well, it’s a pleasure to bump into you Alca.” Don’t mind her it was just her little attempt at a joke. A brow raised at the remark. Rather than get into trouble? Now that just begged for more questions! Of course the mermaid wouldn’t overstep ones boundaries.
“Good luck with starting over then. It’s not as easy as one thinks.” Cala would know that herself.
Howdy! This here is an independent Cala Maria from Cuphead. Would you do a giant gal a favor and reblog this post if you’re interested in interacting? You might just get a kiss if you do! But not really.
"Oh golly! Your so big! I've never seen a mermaid like you before! Your pretty!" The little lemon exclaimed, smiling at the mermaid. (@thesour-sweetheart) (hiii!)
@thesour-sweetheart
“Why thank you~!” The giant mermaid beamed with delighted grin. She quite enjoyed receiving compliments for her looks and size! Carefully does she lower herself down so that she can get a better view of this individual.
“I’m by far the prettiest of them all too. No other mermaid can match me in the looks department.”
💬 Rumor has it you can make any man who sees you... Hard as a rock. *Badum tsh* (Not from Jas or anything, just REALLY wanted an excuse to make that pun)
Send 💬 + a rumor and my muse will react to it.
“Me?? I would never! A beautiful and gorgeous mermaid such as myself could never turn someone to stone.” Her graveyard of people would say otherwise.
Send 💬 + a rumor and my muse will react to it.
poludaktulos:
The swat did not seem to deter them at all. In FACT, the smile on their face only grows broader.
“ Fascinating! How much sensation do you get? Is it the same as touching your skin, or is it blunted in any way? ”
They barely curbed the urge to poke her again.
Cala was not a fan of these scientific types of humans. They should fear her! Worship her name! Not want to study her.
At least he did stop with the poking. That was nice.
“It is. The octopus is basically a part of me rather than an actual animal.”
alcaxponciano:
Oh, Alca definitely noticed the ridiculous height of the mermaid, suddenly thinking back on the times she has seen pictures of mermaids in books and such during her childhood. They always resembled to be the height of average humans. Perhaps this one was a different type of mermaid, one in a species of giants of sorts that travel on land? What kind of name would that be? Like any typical child, Alca was fascinated by the idea of such magical creatures to exist, but actually witnessing in person and as an adult is a different story.
As soon as the mermaid’s tail made contacted with the ground, Alca couldn’t help but flick her own tail in response before listening in on what the creature had to say. How incredible that she somehow managed to become so blind of this. This might be just as wild–if not more wild–than finding out the actual Devil exists in the flesh here.
“By that, I assume that you have been on land multiple times, yes? Sorry, I’m just very surprised that I somehow didn’t know of your…existence in the time I’ve lived here.” She looked towards the direction of the ocean before looking back at the mermaid, attempting to accept this new discovery as normal. “Have you always lived in this isle’s waters solely?”
If only the other knew of what she truly was for she was no true mermaid underneath it all. Cala was something far worse and only through the use of the devil’s magic (and a deal) had she been able to take this far more comforting form. It had a variety of uses but the main one was to fit in better. After all who would you be more willing to talk too? A giant snake monster or a mermaid monster? The mermaid of course!
“Of course.” A chuckle parted from her lips as she looked down to Alca. “In fairness, I tend to hibernate a few hundred years or so at a certain point. That’s just long enough for people to forget about me or new folk to not know who I am.” Unless her stories were passed down by the older generation. That’s how the humans knew of her and revered her with utmost fear.
The mermaid shook her head. “I’ve only moved to isle’s in the past maybe fifty years or so ago? I’m far older than just fifty at the moment.” Of course she wasn’t going to say how old she was. Let’s just say she was around long before man even developed the first pirate ship.
“What about you though?” Her head tilts as a curious look crosses her face.
nuclearshxgun:
“Hmm… so you decorate your turf with your ‘treasures’, I take it.”
His such lands needn’t need ‘treasures’ to look bountiful, Monster Island was surrounded by reefs and, otherwise was a tropical paradise. He didn’t mention this however, considering this ‘sea human’ took great pride in her treasures.
“Indeed I do~! I’ve collected a lot of them over the years.”
From pillaging them from pirates to finding the buried treasure herself, Cala had collected everything throughout the countless years. It really helped make her territory shine! Now if only there were giant rings she could decorate herself with them.
bystcrdust:
That… Wasn’t good. Shrinking back into the sand as the other towers above her, Ava lets out a very quiet squeak of fear. Hands are moved up in what she hopes is a peaceful gesture before Ava speaks up.
“S-Sorry… I didn’t… I thought everything was contained…” Even if she wanted to move forward and try and make amends, the Vengess wasn’t moving just in case. “I woulda put it out immediately, I don’t like causin’ harm…”
Oh yes she quite liked seeing the child shriek out of fear. One should at the sight of the giant mermaid monster! The beast makes sure to give a visible grin, showcasing all of her razor sharp teeth to this child that was responsible for burning her fins.
“Well it certainly wasn’t. Look at what ya did to my tail!” Up comes her tail to show how singed it was. “I’m rather inclined to eat you for that.” Of course she wasn’t going to do that immediately. She’d have to see the other’s reaction first!
nuclearshxgun:
Gold, from what Goji understood was the typical human ‘treasure’. A substance that didn’t personally have much value for the Kaiju himself, considering there was little actual use of the item.
“Human treasures… many a humans would kill amongst their own ranks to secure themselves… ‘treasure’ as they call it.”
“Oh yes~! I’ve seen it countless times throughout the ages! Primarily during the pirate age.” Which just so happened to be her favorite era. That’s when the ships were bountiful and she could sink as many as she pleased!
“I love glittering up everything I own with the stuff. It makes everything so shiny.”
@gildedjustice
To say she’s in panic mode is a bit of an understatement. Where in the world was she? Cala had virtually no clue. What she did know was that she needed to get out of here! Even if it meant crumbling through a couple of walls and bringing the building down. Nobody was going to keep her locked up in here!
nuclearshxgun:
“So I see, is this typically your ‘territory’?”
As far as the Kaiju claimed, everything technically belonged to him, except the stars himself. He did respect the boundaries of others however and often accepted the ‘territory’ of his allies such as Rodan or Anguirus and only incurred upon them when he deemed it suitable to do so.
“This area here? Nah, it’s not mine. My territories are littered with gold and ships.”
One knows they’re in Cala’s home when the venture forth and witness all the sunken ships carefully placed around almost akin to a graveyard. The gold she collected helped as well making the area sparkle and glitter about. It was the perfect way to show who was in charge here~!
nuclearshxgun:
“So I see… a solitary creature you would be, somewhat akin to my own kin.”
Well at least his species was solitary. Goji was an unusually social exception to this. It was somewhat of a relief that this ‘sea human’ had not been awoken by the ruckus caused by Ghidorah.
Cala couldn’t help but frown at that. She’d like to know what her own kin was like. If they even existed that is. The mermaid had spent countless years searching for at least one of her own and she had found nothing. What was it like to have a kin?
“Yeah. I mostly just stick to my part of the ocean.” Of course she’s not going to mention how she likes to expand that ocean with new territory every once and a while.
