Okay I GOTTA know which of the Saja boys did the choreography because that move with the hand over the eye on "I'm the only one who'll love your sins" for Jinu was fucking INSPIRED, as was that little neck trail hand thing by Baby and the bead toss gesture from Abby, like this shit is BEAUTIFUL (big ups to the gif makers on these, you've done the world a grand service)

I love these questions, and luckily the animators for these shots did speak a bit about it (albeit on twitter, so I can't source anymore cuz wtf is their search system anyway ugh)

Anyways:

The initial choreo by Abby at the start of the whole thing was done by (iirc) Matthew McDonald, who mentioned using Hyunjin's Studio Choom AotM video as inspiration for general vibe and body language. I can't remember if Matthew was assigned the shot of Jinu in the first gif as well, but assuming he is (since animators tend to be assigned similar shots in batches), that would mean the 02:20 mark of the video was the inspiration for his move.

There was no specific mention of Baby Saja (and, again, I struggle to remember if Matthew was assigned this shot as well), but overall the animators have all stated ad-libbing these flourishes.

I've said this before and will repeat it again because it's absolutely deserved, but Josh Beveridge was instrumental in re-iterating to the animation team that these ad-libs were pretty much an expectation. Even background characters have little personality flourishes that make KPDH worth re-watching just to fully appreciate the amount of thought put into this movie.

Hell, I wrapped on this project earlier in the year and you'd think I'd seen all the little details after so many rounds of QCing this movie.

Nope, I'm still finding details even now in September. I can't praise the animation and post team enough for their extremely hard work and attention to detail.

Thank you for digging up the actual animator info on this. I love being able to give credit and appreciation where it is due and the animators absolutely fucking killed it on this entire scene. This film is such a work of art and I love this entire sequence so much, the ad-libs really sell the personality of each character and bring the whole thing together. Mad appreciation to Matthew, Josh, and the team!
