“Oh! Oooh!” The lithe child plopped right in front of the television set, her wide, brown eyes growing bright as they fixated on the screen. Her little hand patted the empty spot next to her. “Journey to the Center of the Earth is on!
“Have you ever seen it before?” Because she has. Dozens of times.

;;- Aaaaaaah, guys, have my own laptop again! I’m so excited and relieved that I feel like I’m gonna cry (again). ;u; It’s been so long since I had the freedom to do what I want when I want on the Internet. I‘m going to have to finish setting up my laptop to my liking (like getting Chrome, cause wow, IE sucks balls) but I will definitely on here more!

And now that little Rue had a partner by her side for safety in case—God forbid – something went awry, she said with the brightest of hopeful smiles, “Thanks, Chief!” and began the hurried task of scooping one forkful after another of her lunch in her mouth to finish it up. Her eyes glowed as she glanced up at her friend, as if to say, “Hurry up, let’s go!”

;;- With that said, like this little post here for a starter when I return. Starter lengths may vary, but I usually write ones a paragraph (5+ lines/sentences) or longer.
;;- Ugh, can't wait to get my own laptop again... I'm still alive and kicking, but I'm barely able to get on due to the time limit the library computers have (which, most of the time, I have to use to find jobs since my family's making a big out-of-state move... again).
And what do you freaking know, all these plans of moving and finding a job and being homeless for months (after being chronically homeless for years before that) is only making my anxiety and depression worse.
And I completely fucked-up on NaNoWriMo, because I only have under 5,000 words in my story, and all of my stories are collecting dust in the back of my mind again.
I can't find comfort anywhere, and I just can't fucking deal with anything, and I want to lose myself in all of my rp blogs and books and writings. ;n;

Well, John was telling the truth; there really was no need for her to worry about not getting in so soon when she hasn’t even reached twelve yet; there will be plenty of time for her to prepare before the day comes when she could really sign up. And if John’s words were true (and she was sure that they were at this point) that the simulations will help, then she will have to take advantage of it for as long as she can.
She scooped a couple spoonfuls of rice in her mouth, stuffing her cheeks as she chewed thoughtfully. “Hm, I don’t think I want to smell blood.” When she swallowed, she laugh out a soft laugh. “I’m not ready to be a savage yet.”

“The simulation can be altered in many, many ways. In theory I believe there’s about several /billion/ different combinations possible.” He spoke. “It’s popular with the Spartan-IVs. They like to do War Games on them, as they’re called. Different things like King of the Hill or Capture the Flag.”

Rue had a fork halfway up to her mouth again, but she hesitated, tilting her head at the slightest, imperceptible angle. “Those sound like children’s games…” Like the games she and her sisters used to play not too long ago.
“I’ll give those a try, then. Hey, you wouldn’t mind being there while I try the simulation out, would you?” She knows that the training isn’t dangerous, and hell, she was damned near excited to test it out, but experiencing such graphic details may do her more mental harm than good, and it would do her well to have a friend nearby..

That face. The familiarity of it was hitting Rue in awful waves that, for some reason, caused her too much nausea. The worse part of it was that she didn’t even know why she’d find this man so recogniz- able when they have never crossed paths a day in her short life. But watching him from afar, where she sat in a bed of flowers and trying to make her one peach last for lunch, she had voices going off in her head—does that sound crazy or what?—sharing things with her. Stories, rumors, legends of great valor and many, many sins. It was the voices of her father and mother telling her of this great man whose victory only led him to an awful life of drugs and unholiness, something that drew a shiver in Rue’s spine growing up.
She continued her observation of the man as he and his crew started piling into a truck. There was an air of urgency about their movements, the way they tried to hurriedly shove crates and such into the truck bed.
Then she caught a glimpse of the man’s eyes, and suddenly he had a name. Steve Rogers. Victor of the 61st Hunger Games. The intense nausea of familiarity hit her tenfold, but it was nothing compared to the clarity and odd excitement that not only could she finally place a name to that face of his, but that she was in close vicinity of one of the many heroes Rue was told about in her younger years. Could she go and try to shake hands with this rebel who her father painted as a hero? She had no plan to, but fate was always willing to change a person’s mind. In this case, Fate decided to unleash a team of Peacekeepers on this man and his group, weapons fired up and orders and demands shouted from behind masks. As stupid, utterly damn stupid, as it was to try and intervene, Rue found herself shooting out of her comfortable spot in the grass and charging towards the group when the Peacekeepers already began bludgeoning this little group.
“Hey! Hey!” She called with a frantic wave of her arms. What was she going to do against a team of Peacekeepers who have an unheard of thirst for blood? She didn’t know herself, but Rue was already digging in her pocket for her little knife.

It was the gentle rustling of the woodland leaves that drew Enoch in that particular direction. Movement was what he searched for. Where there was movement, there were results. The boy was looking for a creature. He wouldn’t follow the sound of rustling leaves from foot height, but rather rustling leaves from a height many feet above his head. He was getting close, he could feel it. Enoch stepped further and further in with a quick step, in search of what he believed to be the missing peculiar he were looking for. What he found, was not what he expected. “Oh,” He said, slightly annoyed. There, stood a girl. Not the girl he were looking for. “You’re not a bird.”

It was clear that this boy was tailing her. Before this weird chase began, Rue pegged him as yet another little wood wanderer who was simply exploring. There was no danger from him as long as she remained with the birds and squirrels and all other manner of creatures who took their shelter in the treetops. But when she moved, he moved with her. Whichever tree she landed in, he was there at the base. And maybe it was paranoia eating at her-- especially since this kid didn't even come across as violent to her-- Rue was still... afraid. Not only because she didn't know what this child's plan was that is driving him to stalk her from below, but the fact that she was detected. Being detected was not in her repertoire.
To ease her worries, Rue conducted a jumping maneuver that she was sure to get her out of this boy's sight. And it would have worked if, well... if she didn't mis- calculated and end up right in his line of sight. Wonderful. Rue didn't know what to expect from this boy, but if it was violence, then Rue had no other choice than to be alert to every one of the boy's moves, reach into her back pocket for her many sharp stones, and--
"...What?" What did he say? She's not a bird? "Um... of course not. What, you lost a pet or something?"

"Wow..." Combat ready in just a couple of hours? She will admit, that's certainly better than the long four years of fighting skills she picked up homeless, and Rue was sure that she'll gain fighting skills that are better than mere scrapping with rugged hobos and nonhumans could give.
She followed the line down the serving area, smiling at the workers as they dumped scoops of rice and stew and rolls into the bowls. She pointed out an empty table and led the way there. She picked up her spoon and stirred the rice around. "Do you really think they'll allow me out there with you guys? I mean, I hear what the others say, about me being too small and my fighting too rough. What if..." She feared that speaking the doubt aloud will make it true. "...What if the simulation or the training doesn't make me good enough?"

"I know where it is." And to show that she did, Rue made a fast-paced skip through the halls, with the occasional glance over the shoulder to see if he was following. Not long after, she led them to the cafeteria, a place full of training-worn soldiers scarfing down platters or waiting in line to get theirs. The scent of the meal might not have been too extravagant to the average preson, but it was enough to tickle Rue's stomach and draw out a rumble.
She skipped over to the end of the line, grabbing two trays and handing one to her companion. "Hey, what time do you think we could start the training?"

That offer was the one thing to finally get the girl to abandon the puzzle altogether, placing it on a nearby table with a puppy- like eager nod. "Yeah! I'm so rusty with close fighting, I can't even block attacks in time." Soon after, her watch buzzed. "Oh, but first, we're gonna need some lunch. Let's go before the cafeteria runs out of the good stuff."

Rue nodded. "Okay. Hey, do you think I'll need to learn how to use weaponry in order to get on board? Because I can learn how to fight better if you can teach me." As she spoke, she neared getting to the center of the puzzle, yet not once breaking eye contact with her companion.
