I am very happy with my job and I am so, so lucky to be doing this work. Bikeshare! There’s nothing more perfect.

But our marketing director for the transit agency left a month ago, and my boss asked me to fill in for that role, too. Marketing is also work I know and can do. But I really don’t like being responsible for two jobs. I can provide coverage in both positions but I cannot do both of them well.

Today I had to patch a flat using the literal last remains of glue in my tube by ripping it open and smearing it on like butter. It was our last hope and my totally pro patch job held back 120psi like a boss. Now as to why an empty glue tube found it’s way back into my saddle bag…

See this idiotic pole? I hate these things. They are pointless and dangerous. The trails people put them up in the fall and take them down in the spring. There is no reason for them to exist, and since the trails aren’t lit, people get hurt by them. You ride all summer without them, and without warning, suddenly there is a dangerous obstacle in the middle of the trail. So pointless and idiotic. They only have them up during the “darker” months. Ultimately they’re to prevent heavy vehicles from getting on a bridge that is not designed to support them. But yeah, there’s probably a better solution.
