Making a Tablet
Lil’ Tails was pacing busily throughout the workshop, with various signs and pieces of his work strewn about. On the table sat his work-in-progress–the ‘Tails Computer’–in its current form, as well as various other electronic devices and pieces. The computer monitors on the desk displayed various schematic images and nested file folders.
‘WORKING TITLES’ was written across the top of the standing chalkboard that Tails had set up across from the table. In the center, ‘TAILS COMPUTER’ was written out plainly with numerous other possible names scrawled out. There included, but weren’t limited to, ‘Tails Tablet’, ‘Handheld Plus’, and ‘iTails’–the latter of which had been crossed out with a note scribbled underneath reading ‘can’t afford a lawyer’.
“Hmm…” Tails picked up the device and carried it over to the computer, where he grabbed a USB cable to plug into it. “That takes care of final adjustments for the GPS and satellite television software…” he could be heard mumbling to himself.
“That should do it for functionality then.” He nodded slightly as he began running an upload from the workshop computer before pulling up a 3D design program. “Just need to streamline the design; don’t wanna just keep it a Frankenstein Wii U pad…”
*A certain hedgehog had been secretly watching the other work, beginning to sneak up to him and hugged him from behind when he wasn’t hold anything so nothing got broken.*
“Hey you, you still working on this invention of yours?”
*He giggled and rubbed his head a little with a smile.*
No matter how many times Sonic did that, he still always managed to catch him by surprise. After a quiet cry of said surprise, Tails looked over his shoulder. “When did you get back???”
Motioning to the screen, Tails pulled up a few design models showcasing his current plans. The design plan looked a bit more like the version his alternate counterpart had designed for the adventure chronicled in the story Sonic Unleashed. But there was still a definite inspiration from the Wii U game pad the prototype was built from in the basic design shape. Someone more familiar with the alternate’s design might’ve also noticed the handlebars seemed a bit smaller and more in-lined in this design.
“This is what I’m thinking about for the tablet’s physical design,” he explained. “What do you think?”
