Finally got round to actually doing something
the green witch ☆
the green witches path is not complicated. in fact, like in any other fields of witchcraft the path you create is your own, the craft you create is your own and the way you practice your magic is your very unique and own. there is no right and wrong in finding your own way of being and working with the universe and nature and their powers. and your powers of course.
you may think to be a green witch you suddenly have to drop all kinds of modern practices, exclude every inorganic thing from your craft, and concentrate on nature only, but that is also wrong! the siginificant thing about the green witches path is not only that she includes nature in her way of witchcraft as much as her surroundings allow it, but it is also her respectful mentality and positive attitude towards every little thing on this planet, be it in nature or in modern society.
the green witch focuses on a few simple basic areas of life: harmony, health, love, happiness, peace, abundance and protection. as you can see all these things have a positive vibe to it, the green witch is usually not one who wants to cause malicious impacts on others. the key of the green witch is not to only encourage all those positive things within herself, but in everyone and everything that she gets in touch with.
the green witches surroundings don’t have to be all nature. she can live in the woods, she can live in the suburbans, but she can also live in the urban city! the green witch makes her home her sacred place which she maintains and protects. she doesn’t have to be in nature, she decorates her home with the things that make her feel grounded and connected to it and her craft.
her tools of use can be anything, but a basic list of things a green witch works with could be this:
herbs and spices
flowers, plants, trees
rocks and crystals
veggies and fruits
everyday nature findings
her own magical hands
notebooks and journals
a simple ceramic cup
a mortar and pestle
bowls, bottles and jars
knife or scissors
the green witch also often likes to work with the energies of the four natural elements. there are “earth” (grounding, abundance, receptive and passive); “air” (communication, intellect, projective and active); “fire” (passion, creativity, projective and active); and “water” (emotion, sensitivity, receptive and passive).
also, it is important to her to discover and develop on her own senses like vision, touch, taste, smell and sound because it helps her to identify and work with all kinds of natural ingredients for her craft.
what is really important for a green witch is the cycle of the year and the natural rythm of things, like for example the tides of the year: spring equinox to summer solstice (the growing tide); summer solstice to autumn equinox (the reaping tide); autumn equinox to winter solstice (the resting tide); and winter solstice to spring equinox (the cleansing tide).
to be a green witch means to live life with the rythm of nature and not the other way around: she works with to different times growing seasonings and therefore has to adjust her craft to the natural resources of this world. that’s why she celebrates the solstices and equinoxes with appropriate crafts, rituals and meditations and is thankful for each tide in her life because it reflects her own and helps her to feel part of a huge and amazing thing that is wonderfully systematic.
just like the tides of the year, also the cycle of the sun, the moon and the stars play a role in witchcraft and of course the green witch likes to work with those influences as well as the different parts of the day/night. everything is always parted in four stages: birth, maturity, old age and death.
especially the moon is a powerful source of knowledge when it comes to green witchery because the lunar phases and the moon’s constellation in a zodiac sign can help a lot with the cultivation, growing and harvesting of different green nature goods.
a green witch really likes to do a lot of handmade things to improve her craft and her life in a creative and positive way. here are some things you can try as a green witch when you don’t know where to start:
build and maintain your own little garden
grow and care for your own herbs and spices
prepare your harvest and extract energies
make your own herbal incense and resins
create decomposable garden spell bags
craft spell jars and dream pillows/sachets
empower your energy with essential oils
mix your own bath salts and body scrubs
blend your own smoothies and drinks
craft vinegars and make infused sugars
generally cook and bake your own things
but always BE CAREFUL and research about each thing you want to do properly. only because something is natural doesn’t automatically mean it is healthy or not dangerous at all. some things are poisonous and can cause sickness or even death. always do your research.
happy witchery and lots of love ☆ noonymoon
