Welcome Home
Shepard smiled and lead Litu into the elevator, selecting his cabin. As the door closed, he turned to Litu and pulled her close to him, his arms wrapping gently around her.
"So," he began, kissing her neck for a moment in the hug. "How does it feel? You’re free, Litu. I can take you anywhere any time. No leashes, no chains, no council."
Shepard released Litu and took a half step back, his hands resting on her waist. “Is it anything like you imagined?”
She smiled and snuggled into his embrace, content. "I still haven't assimilated it. It is hard to actually believe. It is not a life I ever expected to see again, not without looking over my shoulder for an assassin's cross-hairs.
When he pulled back her hands fell to his arms and gripped them as she looked into his eyes. "I think it will take some time...right now it all seems so unreal...like I will wake up at any time....were that to happen, it would be the cruelest of jokes," she said quietly, looking away. She didn't want him to see just how real that fear was for her.
