Keep in mind:
eating will not hurt you
eating will not make you gain an unnecessary amount of weight
eating will keep you alive and give you energy to live
eating will get easier as time passes
eating is necessary
eating is life
eat.
I hate being sick because I can't work out. I want to work out. I've been sooo lazy for months and I've been sick for like a week, and now I want to work out but I'm sick so I know it would just make me get better slower. ugh ):
I get asked all the time how to recover from binge eating disorder. So, here are ten tips on how to stop binging.
**Please keep in mind that I’m not a professional in any way. This is based off of personal experiece. Also, everyone recovers differently. I hope this helps at least some of you.**
Tip #1 - Time.
When deciding to recover, you must realize that this will take time. Recovery doesn’t happen overnight. Patience is the key.
Tip #2 - Listen to your body
Learn the difference between real hunger and hunger because of boredom. Also, make a effort to stop eating when you feel satisfied, but not stuffed. And don’t turn to special diets to tell you what to eat. Vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, etc. is okay, but only if you want to.
Tip #4 - Why?
Ask yourself why you think you binge. Is it an emotional reason? Are you restricting too much? Find the cause of your binging and try to find alternative solutions to occupy your time. Such as knitting, or guitar playing.
Tip #5 - Prepare
Try to prepare some healthy snacks in advance. That way, you have a go to healthy snack with minumum work. You can check out my ‘recipes’ link for some healthy ideas. You’ll be less likely to munch on chips and cookies.
Tip #6 - Addition
Think addition - not restriction. Instead of thinking about foods you need to cut out of your diet, think of healthy foods you can add to your diet. Also, it’s okay to have “junk” food sometimes.
Tip #7 - Scale
Do yourself a favor and just stay off the scale. Your worth is not measured by the number on the scale.
Tip #8 - Victory
Celebrate every victory, big or small. Go out with your friends, spend some extra time on tumblr, netflix, etc. But don’t reward yourself with food.
Tip #9 - Support
Surround yourself with people who will support you and make you feel good. You don’t need negative people in your life.
Tip #10 - Self love
Learn to love yourself. Know that you will make mistakes and slip up. It’s part of recovery. It’s part of life. You have to forgive yourself, get up, and try again.
You can't "cheat" on a diet. Eating is not a test.
Always remember that progress is progress, No matter how small it may be. After my surgery I put on 3kilos & I was feeling a little bummed that I let my eating slip. I have been back at gym & training properly for 1 month now & comparing photos, I can already see the difference. Don’t EVER compare yourself to someone else. Always focus on you & making your body the best it can become ☺
Work hard and stay patient!
Everyone starts their fitness journey’s at different fitness levels. I’m sick of only seeing the ripped up, jacked, lean, super crazy fit bodies instead of some people who are just starting out.. you know what I mean? People like you and me who aren’t exactly where they want to be but are doing everything possible to get there. People who push through the plateau of weight loss and make it happen everyday to reap the rewards in the long run. THOSE PEOPLE are the ones who inspire me the most.. although seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dana Linn Bailey really does make me want to bench press a gorilla and leg press the Empire State Building.
Just a reminder that whilst a perfectly clean diet is good for your health, so are these:
sunshine;
reading;
kissing;
alone time;
fresh sheets;
loving;
sleeping;
combing your hair;
cuddles;
90s movies;
letting loose;
moisturising your skin;
forgiving;
being anonymous;
impulse shopping;
laughing;
being outdoors;
indulging;
having sex;
lying in bed all day;
drinking tea;
crying;
listening to your favourite album;
going out for coffee;
getting lost in a book store;
