Excluding Johnny the Ramones seem to be considered fairly decent guys, but taking song rights in exchange for bailing Dee Dee out of jail (having already fired the guy) is honestly a really uncool thing to do. When you've got a guy who's so fucked out of his mind and needs serious help and support, trying to get something out of him when he's in a vulnerable position is pretty fucked up if you ask me

#I honestly just feel really sad for Dee Dee I wish he'd been able to overcome his addictions #effective songwriter and pretty damn impressive bass player (especially for being out of his head most of the time)#not saying it was the band's responsibility to help him but the whole thing just feels kinda exploitative to me #ramones

Fully a believer that "I love this band" and "this band is just pretty okay" are opinions that can and should coexist. You can enjoy someone's music without having much to say on it.

I've recently been listening to The Go-Go's and Boston, two bands that whilst I like their stuff, nothing's particularly remarkable about them. They don't bring anything to the table I haven't heard from other bands, but that's kinda why I like them. If I want to sink my teeth into a song and really analyse it, I can listen to Queen or Rainbow. But if I just want something nice for the background, Boston does the job.

I think it's quite an art to just be simply enjoyable.

Pat "Panache" Walters, drummer for Soho Roses

I was gonna do like a proper critique or something of his technique but nah this guy just has insanely gorgeous fashion style and I don't think I've ever heard someone shred on drums before but Panache somehow did he's just really cool, go listen to Soho Roses

Hey shoutout to whatever the fuck Brian May was doing in The Millionaire Waltz where he played a waltz on an electric guitar because that's still some of the coolest shit I've ever heard

Have you ever loved something so much it almost made you feel sick because that's how I feel about '39 by Queen. I can't even put into words how much I love this song, I was given A Night At The Opera almost ten years ago and dramatic as it might sound hearing '39 for the first time was genuinely life-changing. It's an incredibly beautiful song that, as great a singer as Freddie Mercury is, I feel it's only Brian May's voice can really bring out the true emotion in this song. It's made all the more impactful by the gut-punching final verse. The volunteers technically succeeded in their mission, they found a new planet, but at the cost of everything they knew. Their loved ones are dead or far older than they are now and they've lost so much time. And to me at least that's what the song is about, not just science and the stars, but the fear of losing that precious time with your loved ones. Of being too busy elsewhere and missing this time with them.

I don't know why such a sad song brings me so much comfort. Despite the rather upbeat tempo it's far from a happy song, but it gives me so much joy to listen to. Go listen to it if you haven't, it's just damn good

Triumph of the human spirit is Rick Allen losing his arm in a crazy fucked up way and then proceeding to make the greatest comeback most musicians could only dream of and continue to kick ass for several decades

#also a great triumph of human spirit is the rest of Def Leppard refusing to replace him and waiting until he relearned how to play #also Rick Allen's drum setup is super cool he does more kickass riffs using his feet than most drummers can do with four limbs #def leppard

I'm Razzle, named for Hanoi Rocks's late drummer. This is a sideblog from me to talk about music! Random thoughts, album cover discussions, tracklist rankings, favourite songs, spotlights on musicians I like, that kind of thing.

My favourite genre of music is rock (broadest spectrum in the universe), with a preference for the glam and prog subgenres. I typically listen to bands and artists from the 1980s and early 70s, although occasionally I do listen to 60s or 90s-00s music (an exhaustive list of specifics might crop up here someday)

I'm overall looking to keep stuff positive here, focusing on the stuff I like, but there will be the odd criticism here and there (or occasional tirade if we get to my conflicted feelings on Mötley Crüe)

Okay so I wanted to start this blog with a nice little intro post but I have just had a wild Experience™️ this evening and need to talk about it.

So I bought a Bill & Ted patch online recently, and as a freebie the seller chucked in what appears to be a trading card of this guy called Khurt Maier (it's got a profile for him on the back). Having never heard of him or his band Salty Dog I looked them up, and what I witnessed was quite possibly the most dogshit band (and music video) I have ever seen in my life 😭 the lyrics were base, the production was atrocious and fuck me the singer couldn't do the one thing he was required to. I then found they did a reunion show in 2011 and that was even worse than them in their "prime". I have been to gigs and felt less exhausted than I did watching this band on my TV, they were just draining and downright painful to watch 😭
