Funny story:

So my boyfriend and I were sitting at a table in science class when my transfem friend comes over.

For a bit of context, my transfem friend had only come out to my boyfriend and I, and there was one of my other friends as well that she hadn’t come out to yet. And my boyfriend and I like “making fun” of my transfem friend. (It’s playful teasing, what’d you expect from teens)

Anyway, so the friend comes over and starts talking while my boyfriend is being a goof-ass. Suddenly, my transfem friend suddenly says, “No, *insert my boyfriend’s name here*, I don’t swing that way.”

I just look at her dead in the eyes and say, “So you’re a trans lesbian?” (She’s also only dated women)

She looks back and forth at me and my other friends sitting there and says, “I don’t know what you’re talking about…”

She’s told us that when she says that, she means “Yes, you’re right. Now be quiet, I don’t want others to know.”

This happened a few days ago, but I just remembered and thought I’d share it.

(I also feel so bad deadnaming her when her other friends are around, especially because she was one of the first people to actually use my chosen name and pronouns. Most people irl (especially the ones I’ve come out to) still deadname/misgender me. Is this normal? XD)

Chapter 29: Jax

I’m taking a little nap when I hear the door slam across the hall. And the sobbing starts almost immediately, radiating from Pomni’s room, so much that I can hear it in mine with the door closed. My heart drops to my feet, and before I think otherwise, I rush into her room, hoping she’s okay.

Pomni, laying on her bed, sobbing. Quite literally crying her eyes out. The sight is heartbreaking.

I don’t know why, but I had suddenly picked her up, sat on the bed, and set her down in my lap. Perhaps because she’s my girlfriend? I don’t really know, but I did it and it made me feel safer.

“Pomni, Pomni, it’s okay. It’s okay. I’m here, I’m here,” I say in a soft voice, twisting Pomni’s hair.

It continues like this for another 30 minutes, where I tell her that feeling grief is real and to cry it out.

When she finally stops crying, her body stops shaking enough so I’m able to kiss her on the forehead. Which I do. 

This makes Pomni look up at me, hiccuping from her sobbing fit. Then she suddenly hugs me tightly and smiles hysterically. It surprises me, and I hug her back. She looks up at me again, sleepily. Makes me giggle a bit.

And here’s when I whisper a few, simple words that make the falling-asleep Pomni happy. (And me as well)

“I love you…”

Chapter 28: Gangle

As Pomni runs out crying, Zooble squeezes my hand. I’ve told them that I’m most likely to cry or be emotional if someone else is.

If I was wearing it, my comedy mask would have broken by now.

I took off my comedy mask right before the funeral. I didn’t think it would be appropriate to be smiling at someone’s memorial, so it’s still intact. 

“Is the funeral… over?” I ask, looking at Zooble.

“I think so,” they said. “We all talked, except for Pomni, and she went off crying. I think it’d be appropriate to leave now.”

After a few moments of Kinger blinking his eyes out of sync, he goes into his pillow fort. At the same time, Zooble and I go to their room to retrieve my comedy mask.

As we pass Pomni’s door, I hear the ever so present sobbing emerging from her room. Zooble squeezes my hand even tighter, trying to soothe me without knowing if I’m even in distress or pain.

I like them for that.

They open their door and reach into their “Zooble Box” to grab my comedy mask. 

“Careful,” they say as they hand it to me. “It’s fragile.”

I giggle and blush a little as I trip. They catch me, and I hug them, putting my head on their shoulder.

“Thanks Zoobie,” I say.

“Anytime.”

We stay like this for a while until a thought pops into my head.

“Do you, do you think,” I said as I straightened my head. “That Ragatha abstracted because she got rejected by Pomni?”

Zooble looks into my eyes. “I don’t- I don’t know… but, probably…yeah.”

We take a moment of silence. I know what they’re thinking. We all were there when that happened.

“Come on,” they say. “Let’s go watch the anime that’s always playing in your room, to put this day on a higher note.”

“Yes please!” I yell.

Chapter 27: Pomni

I’m sitting in my room with the lights off, emotionless. I have no thoughts. I stand up and lay on my bed, about to go to sleep, when I hear the knocking at my door.

Slowly, the door opens, and I see Jaz, back in her original outfit, standing empatheticly. 

“Ragatha’s funeral is ready,” she whispers. “I probably won’t go, but I can walk you down there if you like…”

I emotionlessly grasp Jaz’s hand and start walking down the hallway, eyes like squiggly lines constantly changing. Jaz notices this and pats me on the head in an attempt to calm me down.

As we reach the end of the stairs, Jaz lets go of my hand and I mindlessly walk toward the stage, where they have the funeral set up.

The box with Ragatha’s picture. Flowers surrounding the picture. I stare at it while the others, excluding Jaz because she didn’t come, say nice things about Ragatha.

I don’t. I just stare out into space while they talk until they pause at me.

“S-she was my first friend here,” I say after a moment of hesitation. I start to tear up. She was my best friend. And I was going to check on her, but I got distracted with… with Jaz…

The day Jaz came out to me… I was going to check on Ragatha when I got distracted. That was probably the day she abstracted. I failed her…. My first friend. 

I start sobbing hysterically and rush to my room, where I slam the door and cry on my bed. Jaz soon rushes in and sees me crying.

She sits next to me and consoles me until I stop crying, as she tells me that my grief is real and to cry all I want. When it’s finally down to hiccups, she kisses me on the head and hugs me tightly.

“Perhaps not checking on Ragatha was for the better…” I think. “If I did, would I still have all this?”

It brings a smile to my face, a hysterical smile, yes, but a smile, as I squeeze Jaz back.

Just realized something

The lgbt+ flag is a rainbow because rainbows aren’t straight.

POV: You’re shining your zesty ass boyfriend with the trans laser beam with help from your transfem friend because you both think he’s an egg.

So you secretly start plotting ways to gently introduce him to idea of becoming a girl for two reasons:

A: So your friend can have more people in her community at your school

B: So you can become a lesbian without breaking up with your boyfriend

However, while plotting the first step of the scheme, your transfem friend’s first idea is to put a tiny amount of estrogen in your boyfriend’s food. However, she quickly says no, saying that doing that is illegal and you’ll also have to buy HRT.

Now you have to come up with ideas to gently introduce your boyfriend to the idea of being transfem without injecting him with estrogen.

If I get a second life, I want to become a man so I can transition into a woman and have the woman experience without the period cramps and stuff like that.

I know I’m non-binary now, but I want to be able to go through the transfem experience even though I’m already biologically a female.

Chapter 26: Pomni

I see Jaz starting to get stressed, so I stand up and reach to open her door. However, she stands up and sweeps me in her arms, so we kiss again. 

But that’s when I hear it. 

THUMP THUMP CRASH!!!

A black spiky creature covered in neon eyes runs out of a door they just pushed down. It reminds me of a figure on my first day here. Kaufmo. Someone abstracted.

My eyes drop to the door to see if I can find the face, and my heart falls to the bottom of my feet.

The door belongs to Ragatha…

I reach out for the abstracted version of her, but Jaz is already running 30 miles per hour, like a chicken that just got its head cut off.

I wanted to see if I could help Ragatha calm down and unabstract… but you don’t come back from abstraction. You stay there, trapped in a circus with your consciousness unable to control its own body. You’re stuck like that… forever.

I tug on Jaz’s arm for her to put me down. Not to go towards Ragatha, but to go a separate way and find Caine.

Jaz looks at me and shakes my head. “No, Pomni. I’m not putting you down right now! Not until we’re out of the hallway because it’s chasing us!” 

I look behind Jaz’s head and see if abstracted Ragatha was chasing us. And indeed, she was, and she was catching up fast.

“RUN MOTHERF[SQUEEK]ER! RUN!” I scream as I grip tightly onto Jaz.

“I’M GOING AS FAST AS I CAN!” She yells back, as dodges a flying table.

As the abstracted Ragatha and the staircase downstairs gets closer, Jaz puts me on her shoulders.

I, for some stupid reason, checked to see where the abstracted creature was. 

I tense up. She was so close that my nose, if I had one, would touch her.

Then suddenly, the creature stops.

And lunges at us…

“HOLD ON!!” Jaz yells over my screams. I collapse on her and grasp her head, but try to make sure I’m not covering her eyes.

Jaz jumps and slides down the railing of the staircase, just as the abstracted creature lands, right where we just were.

The creature hisses at the sight of us escaping, then walks the other way.

We pant and Jaz sets me down, where we start running around calling for Caine.

We both run around for hours, but to no avail. 

Zooble and Gangle open the meadow door and walk out, where Jaz and I both rush to. 

“HAVE! YOU! SEEN! CAINE?!?” Jaz screams at them.

“Why?” Snarks Zooble.

“B-BECAUSE!! B-BECAUSE RAGATHA!!!” Jaz pants.

“Because Ragatha what?” Says Gangle.

“RAGATHA ABSTRACTED!” I scream.

They both look at us in shock, and then the roof cracks, drywall landing on our head.

And down falls Ragatha, right in between of the crowd.

Gangle and Zooble rush back into the meadow room while Jaz and I run away, but there’s no reason to. Ragatha pounces right on us and pins us down. 

I feel the glitching consume me as I yell out with the remaining breath I have, “CAINE! HELP US!”

Caine appears next to us. “What do you need help with my little tyrant T-Rex teethers?”

“Help… us…” whispers Jaz.

“Oh!” Caine exclaimed as he snapped his fingers. Ragatha floats up into the sky, falls into a hole, and Jaz’s and my glitches disappear.

Caine floats away as Jaz and I continue to lay on the floor, embarrassed and exhausted.
