Gather All Troops! Igloofest Adds 3 Nights to the Program of its 2013Edition
Twelve Musical Evenings to Conquer Winter
Igloofest has experienced exponential growth that has seen its attendance jump from 4,000 in 2007 to 70,000 last year. Faced with such potential, one has to constantly adapt. That's why a fourth weekend is being added to the program this year, offering up an opportunity to dance under the starry skies for 3 more of Montreal's coldest nights. To add, the site's layout has been revised to make for a more efficient and memorable experience for the many thousands who attend. It'll be easier than ever for the troops to get around in the igloo village, to find each other, and to explore new and playful interactive installations. The visual look of the site has also been rethought, in an effort to combine the warmth of traditional equipment with the dazzling precision of the latest innovations. Classic projectors and tungsten lights run side by side with giant flatscreens and LED technology, turning the dancefloor and igloo village into otherworldly spatial experiences.
Battle Hymns and the Music that Rallies the Troops
Drums, pipes, horns, all conquests are launched with music. If Igloofest is inviting the world to brave winter to dance, then music is not just an accessory. It's the key to the celebration. As commander of these festive evenings, artists arrive from all over the world. Some come by popular demand: Magda (US), Pan-Pot (DE), Audiofly (GB), and Miss Kitten (FR). Others have been wooed for quite some time: Joy Orbison (GB), Chris Liebing (DE), Heidi (CA), and Matias Kaden (DE). Some are highly respected veterans: Josh Wink (US), Sasha (GB), Ellen Allien (DE), and DJ Sneak (CA). Others are the most hotly tipped new names of the moment: TNGHT (CA/GB), A Tribe Called Red (CA) and George FitzGerald (GB). And that's just naming a few.
All in all, some 40 artists will grace the Sapporo stage for Igloofest 2013. Among them are a number who will be touching down in Montreal - even in Canada - for the very first time. Here is the main stage's complete program:

A Place for Local Forces
Igloofest is proud to announce the return of the VIRGIN MOBILE Igloo stage for its 3rd edition.
Half springboard, half podium, this stage honours the many producers and DJs who form the backbone of Montreal's diverse and rich scene. The program here assembles another 40 talents to discover and celebrate, and will be announced officially on Tuesday, November 27th.

Braving the cold at Igloofest requires dressing wisely, but it also ideally implies aiming for unique and kitsch attire. Keeping with a solid Igloofest tradition, the boldest of the bunch stroll around in era-specific winter sportswear flashing colours and patterns that compete to win the famed Sapporo One-Piece Contest. Join the contest at the Sapporo Pavilion!
The Hordes Arrive from Everywhere
More and more, Igloofest has been attracting tourists from North and South America, Europe and even Asia. Hotel packages for all tastes and budgets will soon be available on the event website. As well, the special Igloofest menu return as part of the Happening Gourmand's 6th edition, which takes place in many restaurants in Old Montreal from January 10th to the 31st.
The Fortress Gates Always Open for the Farsighted
Thanks to the use of the latest technologies, access to the Igloofest site has been made simple and fast. Since tickets quantities remain limited, and considering the few 2012 sold out evenings, it is strongly recommended that visitors buy their tickets in advance as soon as possible. New this year: Iglooweekend passes will allow you to make the most of any individual Igloofest weekend for the modest sum of $40.
Pre-sale: From November 20th to December 3rd, Igloopasses are $95 all included.
Regular sale starting on December 4th on Ticketpro and selected boutiques
Igloopasses: $120 all included (until Saturday, January 19th, 2013, limited quantity)
Iglooweekends: $40 all included
Regular tickets online: $15 + service charge
Regular tickets in selected boutiques: $15 + $1 charge

When thinking about Halloween the first thing that comes to mind is a scene infested with kids. They’re all dolled up in costumes, strutting down suburban streets begging for candy from their neighbours. If you’ll be in Montreal this year you can toss that image in the trash like a pre-opened chocolate bar.The only treats Montrealers are interested in is free booze and girls in slutty costumes.
Already labeled as a quite the party city, Montreal doesn’t need the excuse of a full moon or witchcraft to get wild. Walking down Saint-Laurent street between the 25th and 31st of October at night makes you feel as though you’re partaking in a freak show. Whether you’re into attending clubs packed with virtually naked women pretending to be animals (cats, bunnies, you know the drill) or a more underground scene where the blood on the walls is probably real, Montreal has got an event for you.
During Halloween, you don’t need to waste money on artificial gifts or spend time with relatives you actually hate like most other holidays require. Instead, you’re given the opportunity to dress up (or down) and become somebody you aren’t.
It’s a time of year where there is no divide in the Montreal streets due to maternal languages or social class or any other bullshit. It should just be you, your friends and a bottle of that magic potion we love to abuse all year round.
