Pete Buttigieg 2020 Y’all
He’s a MILLENIAL. He is GAY. He is NEW IN TOWN.
And he is the only confirmed candidate I trust enough to stop this country from crashing it the brick wall of global warming/end-stage capitalism/grand economic collapse.
• He’s the happily-married, gay, 37-year-old, Harvard-graduate, Afghan-veteran, Rhodes-scholar mayor of South End, Indiana.
• Y’all, when he was a senior in high school he wrote an essay on how amazing Bernie Sanders was. BERNIE. MOTHERFUCKING. SANDERS.
• (He was also class president and valedictorian nbd)
• He got elected as mayor when he was 29 (with 74% of the vote) and then again with OVER 80%!
• He was also declared Mayor of the Year by GovFresh.com in 2013.
• South Bend, a largely low-income community that “never recovered from losing auto factories,” was a dying city. UNTIL MAYOR PETE THAT IS. Thanks to his leadership, the city has “changed its trajectory” to become a shining model of urban reinvention.
• He created the Vacant and Abandoned Properties Initiative, or “1,000 Properties in 1,000 Days,” to repair or demolish targeted properties across the city. And he did that sonnnnn. He did that by the scheduled end date fooooool.
• He also had a reconstruction program called “Smart Streets” (“STREET SMARTS”) that made a bunch of downtown, one-way streets into two-way, pedestrian-friendly streets. Because he cares about the PEOPLE.
• There was a rising crime problem in South Bend in 2014. So what do? Well, Mayor Pete implement led the Group Violence Intervention initiative, which, hello, connected at-risk men with JOBS and EDUCATION.
• Guys, even OBAMA said he was the future of the Democratic Party!
Well, okay, all that’s fine and good. But where does he stand on the issues??
As of right now, he doesn’t have an official platform. However, here are some things he’s said he supports:
• Finally. Ending. The. Goddamn. Wars.
• Solving the issues created by the dumb as hell tax cuts
No candidate is ever perfect. And there’s no doubt that he has a skeleton or two in his closet.
But millennials have got to fucking stick together damnit and we gotta get the old corporate Dems outta positions of power before the economy collapses or global warming murders the coral reefs (and then us)
