when your therapist says “you wanna know what I think?” and you know you’re about to be read for filth
me: if youre dead you dont have to do homework or get stressed over school so it would eliminate anxiety
my therapist:
me: I dont wanna like…… do things……..
My psychologist: You have to, do things
me:
Do you ever become desensitized to your own trauma?? Like you’ve been dealing with it for so long that when you accidentally let it slip out in conversation and the persons like “um oh my god?” You’re like wow I forgot my life has been one unspeakable horror after another #noted
It’s disgusting to make fun of someone who battles addiction regardless of who they are, but Demi Lovato has done so much to help lessen the stigma of mental illness just by being so publicly upfront about living with her multiple disorders, I can’t believe someone would ridicule her for this recent overdose. This is a woman who has lived in the spotlight since she was a CHILD. Since she was 16 years old she has had to navigate her addiction, bipolar disorder, self harm, and bulimia within a hostile, enabling industry and in spite of constant public scrutiny. More than any great talent she possesses, Demi Lovato is a fucking hero for being a woman who has kept on living and loving and fighting thru it all. Shame on you if you think this is fodder for jokes and memes. Fucking misogynists
Don’t beat yourself up if you’re chronically ill and can’t exercise as frequently as you’d like to.
Exercise is often recommended as a treatment for chronic fatigue and pain, but those symptoms make it difficult to exercise. A lot of people with chronic pain and fatigue, myself included, experience an increase in symptoms during and after physical activity. It can be hard to find the time for exercise if you know you’ll need a few hours to recover afterwards, and it’s difficult to motivate yourself to do something you know will leave you in even more pain.
Doctors and mostly healthy people often don’t understand these challenges, but don’t let anyone make you feel guilty about how much you do or don’t exercise. Try your best and don’t stress.
I wish there was more awareness of Lyme, especially here in the Northeast. People don't realize how serious it is. They don't know what it can do to them. They don't know nearly enough, especially the doctors, and they don't protect themselves. I see kids running into the woods and long grass in shorts and flip-flops. I don't have Lyme, but I know a damn lot about it. To be living with it, you're incredibly strong, especially since you're so young. Hopefully someday they'll find a cure for this.
i don’t know why i’m just seeing this now as you asked this nearly a year ago but alas! here i am!thank you v v much i appreciate your kind words 💘i agree. the ignorance about Lyme sometimes is worse than the symptoms. i feel as though we are making some progress finally. one step at a time!

That constant struggle between “I can’t show my symptoms or I’ll be a burden” and “why doesn’t anyone realize I’m suffering?”

All. Of. This. Yes.
depression is not showering for almost a week. depression is not answering your texts because typing words is too hard. depression is driving in the car in silence. depression is skipping school and work because you’re too tired to get out of bed. depression is setting an alarm 10 minutes before you have to leave your house because you know you’re just going to end up wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt anyways. depression is sometimes so numbing that you’re unable to cry, or crying so much you start to throw up. depression is not eating one day, and then eating all junk food the next. depression is people thinking you’re crazy, lazy, or faking it. depression is wishing you died in that car crash you saw on the news instead of that innocent little 3 year old girl. depression is messy and isolating. depression is not a trend. it’s not pretty. it’s not fun. stop romanticizing it.
