Slater Bridge. by Alan Via Flickr: After being up Side Pike earlier in the day, it was a pleasure to be lower down again where the walking was easier. There wasn't much water flowing under Slater Bridge ( often called Slater's bridge ) so angle on the bridge to get a decent shot was limited... this seemed to work best :-)

Knaresborough Viaduct. by Alan Via Flickr: Taking a chance with the very showery weather at Knaresborough, we sat outside at a riverside cafe and enjoyed the view. The very changeable weather didn't put off these youngsters in their hired rowing boats... I'm guessing they would have come off the boats wet, even if it was a bright sunny day :-) An elegant Victorian stone viaduct over the River Nidd has four-spans and stands at 78ft high above the water, each span measures 56ft 9in across. I think seeing only the two spans with the rowing boats and train help to give scale to this wonderful structure. Much better large.. I think it's good for a compact camera :-) An added note: I noticed the roof of the lovely thatched cottage to the right of the viaduct (out of shot) has been fired.. hope it's soon repaired.. I wondered if the cause could have been a burning ember from one of the passing steam trains, I don't know, would be interested to find out if anyone knows :-)

This is the River Wye as seen from the Elizabethan house and gardens at Haddon Hall, near Bakewell in Derbyshire. The house was used as a location for numerous recent period movies, including Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth, and Jane Eyre.

During the summer months we are not meeting indoors, we are off into the great outdoors. Our first meet up was at Arnfield Fishery/Reservoir. A good turn out of both members and midges.
