Hey everyone,

Ive had this blog for 4 years now, as long as I have had herpes. 

It doesnt bother me anymore, it doesnt interfere with my life nor my love life, it really changes nothing about me. Now I am distracted with real concerns, like true love, career, travelling, etc etc Infact, I don’t even think about herpes. I’m just a average girl, living her life. 

Ive enjoyed the time i have had this blog and thankful for so many followers I have got over the years, and I hope I have helped you all as much as you’ve helped me. 

I hope those still struggling find their strength to move forward, despite having HSV1 or 2.

How do you know that? How do you magically know that he would never have told me? Interestingly enough, we never slept together, so *he would’ve had no reason to tell me*. Also, this was the end of that conversation, he could’ve been some twit who doesn’t even have herpes, and sent that as a joke. This is a harmless exchange on Tinder. This doesn’t bother me. At all. Occasionally I’ll look back and notice whenever I sleep with someone I’m *always* the first to disclose. Does that bother me, personally? No. Because I know there’s a stigma that makes disclosure hard, that’s why I try to set an example. Do I find it irritating the likelihood that they are practicing safe sex without disclosing to other partners? Of course. That’s why I try to set an example. If more people disclosed on a regular basis more people would become educated and the stigma would become weak. Every time a gifted person does not disclose it sets the rest of us back and removes agency from their partner.

Hey so I'm the same anon that wrote you earlier this week about me contracting from a guy who rejected me . He finally text me to let me know his results & "allegedly" he doesn't have anything because his doctors haven't told him his results . They said something like if they don't call him he shouldn't worry . I know my body well and I know he gave this to me . I'm just kinda tired of dealing with this . I don't know what else to do .

Maybe he should follow it up with them. Like I said, regardless, you need to move on now without him and look after yourself. His status won't change yours, you still have this. And that's okay! A lot of the time men are carriers without showing symptoms so it's very possible he gave it to you but it doesn't matter, what matters is you healing and moving forward. Cut him off, many men would be lucky to be with you!

I was diagnosed for hsv 2 months ago . The guy that gave it to me didn't know he had it . He was very calm and supportive when I told him & we agreed that we'll get through it .But all of a sudden he's canceled plans on me and started taking 3 days at a time to respond to my text . I recently told him how I felt about everything , including the fact that he hasn't even gotten tested . He never even wrote me back . I'm trying so hard to move forward but everyday it bugs me. What should I do?

First of all, I'm so sorry that really sucks. But now it's time to just look after yourself and focus on you. The guy who gave it to me, still denied that he did and it really hurt me but it doesn't change how I live my life. It's time for you to heal now and forget about him.

I have HSV 1 strain, but my outbreaks occur genitally. So does that mean it transmits via my mouth or my genitals? Basically, should I be careful about *receiving* oral sex or *giving* oral?

If you have never had a outbreak on your mouth then it is possible you only have hsv1 on your genitals in which case you can give oral without too much concern. You can also receive so long as you're not showing any symptoms

Very informative and "human" (as in non clinical) blog :). A few of your posts mention vaccine and trials. Are you referring to Gen-003 or something else? Thank you.

So, I just found out that I'm HSV2+ and I told the guy I was seeing and he freaked out and now he doesn't want anything to do with me. I really don't know how to deal with all this and it just really sucks.

Yeah it's gonna suck! But onto the next one girl, he just another dude and you gonna date so many people until you find the one who's right. If he can't educate himself and learn about herpes, do you want him? You're gonna go through a lot harder things in relationships then herpes

So I got it from a one night stand with a guy a few months ago. I haven't felt able to talk about it with anyone and I'm about to see a therapist but I'm worried she'll judge me. And I'm 20 and I really want to find love with a girl someday but I'm terrified that having this will prevent that

I’m really sorry this happened to you, that sucks.

I think it’s a good idea to talk to a therapist, I was scared of mine judging me too when I was first diagnosed but when I finally just said it she told me of many people who she had done therapy with in similar positions.

Right now you’re judging yourself the hardest so you probably think everyone else is too but herpes really isn’t that big of a deal.

You will find someone to love, but you’re 20 so maybe just enjoy being young first. I have been dating a lot lately and I’ve found if herpes is the worst thing I’ve got going on, I’m doing pretty good. When you have a connection with someone and you get along, none of that other stuff really matters.

You’re a good person, a skin problem doesn’t change you, you can only pass it on when it’s active so if you’re safe and you’re honest you have nothing to worry about.

Just be kind to yourself right now, this is fresh so you have a lot of healing still to go.

Herpes Once Again, Is  Everywhere

I was helping out my old store at CVS for the day and it was such a blessing to be back home.  It’s been about four months since I transferred to my new store about a mile up the road, but I still remembered all the codes and combinations to the safe, lockers, and such.  

So I’m opening the store and getting out all the registers from the safe until I put the last one in it’s place.  What do I see chilling out on the bottom of said safe?  A forgotten or trashed prescription for one of our customers for, you guessed it, Acyclovir.  (Side note: We aren’t allowed to throw it away like regular trash so if we ever come across someone’s Rx, we have to put it in a safe place until pharmacy can take it and trash it properly, so many thrown on the ground are put in the safe.)

I smiled and giggled at how that moment has literally happened dozens of times, because pretty much everyone has herpes.
