Annoyingly the print alignment was extremely off which is my why my pages don’t seem all the same size. Explains for the mismatch in the page sizes once I put it together.
GIF Development
A quick test to showcase the products I took.
GIF style animation using my product photographs.
Production photos as a GIF style animation.
FMP | Profile feature design research
Monday 1st April ____________
One of the key elements of my book will be a profile feature spread. Therefore I want to research some examples of how other people have done this. I’m looking here for column and grid structures, as well as how hierarchy is treated with titles, subtitles and descriptions.
Heavy photography emphasis with three column structure.
Single photo profile shot and short description to the right.
Lots of breathing space between photographs, some overlapping text on lighter images. Multiple column structure.
Profile image, location image, name and then block text descriptions with pull out quotes. ______

Nice examples of editorial design! Well controlled as well as expressive. Good balance of text and image too.
Final Outcome
Test Kitchen, Production Kitchen and Bakery
Hartland Rd, Camden.
I was also given the great oppurtunity to go to where my Mum actually works in Camden. This was where we did the interview as it felt more appropriate and fitting in terms of the environment. I got to see her station, where she works alongside her colleagues. Amazing to see where everything takes place.
The Animation
Initially I wanted to create an animation showing the third and final part of the interview that I conducted with my Mum where she talks about tips and tricks for people wanting to improve their skills at home. After experimenting and showing it in my final presentation, I realised that the style and illustrations werent going to be consistent enough to go with my printed publication. I have decided against creating the animation due to also the time pressure and that I feel I can’t make it to the full extent that I’d be happy with. In the future I would like to progress this component of my project.
Mia Yakel
A lovely set of photographs that I came across in my research. This photographer uses real life photpgraphy alongside line drawings to create these pieces. I thought this was an interesting approach to image making and a ncie contrast between to the two methods. Playful yet serious at the same time.

Illustration Development
Usng found imagery to visualise parts of my interview with my mum. I wanted to approach the layout partly with a playful side to it.

The Gourmand Photography Styling
I have followed the Gourmand magazine for a while now over on instagram and I remebered their photographic styling was very minimal yet striking. Very realistic taken with good lighting capture the shape and form of the items.

Riposte Mag
Nice idea for a front cover for my own magazine. I like the contrast of full bleed against a smaller more ‘polaroid’ style photograph. Something I could play around with?

Gather Journal
Minimal approach with the type and allowing the imagery to speak for itself. Soft tones acting for the backdrop whilst the fruits stand out.

Designing the Front Cover
These were my initial trials for the front cover of my magazine. I wanted to use my photography to its most potential and create a striking cover to entice the readers too look at it. I really like the blue and red, they go well together and I played around with the text placement as I was happy with where the image was placed for the time being. I ended up keeping the image placement the same but instead using a different photo.
