I love how the entire fandom has unintentionally, unanimously decided that between L and Light, Light would be the one to carry their baby
How would they feel like if a classmate asked them for help?😭 like to study or to help with a subject in school would they help or tell them to do it themselves LMAO
Sorry for the delay
L Lawliet
He would help, but selectively.
He doesn't help out of kindness or social obligation. He'd only help if he was interested, the person showed genuine effort or potential, or had some kind of utility to him (interpersonal maintenance if he cares about the person, information, stimulation).
If someone lazy just wants the answers handed to them, he'd refuse and quickly disengage.
He doesn't feel burdened or altruistic about it, it's neutral to him - maybe mild curious.
When he helps: He does not spoon-feed answers. He breaks into logical chains and probabilities. He'd likely test their understanding, then observe them handling a problem independently, then releasing them to their own devices.
He remains calm and precise. Possibly dryly unimpressed if they don't take it seriously or seem like a lost cause.
He's more focused on teaching them to think critically and understand than teaching them how to pass.
If they struggle, he doesn't comfort, he just reframes. The most one can expect is mild encouragement if he sees genuine effort and that they almost had it.
If they waste his time, he disengages without warning.
Light Yagami
He would help often, but not out of kindness. It would be to maintain his image of being intellectually gifted, friendly, and admirable.
He has mild superiority complex about and can become irritated if the person is too slow, but he'll mask the irritation with performative encouragement.
If the person is really slow, he may lie to convince them they're doing a good job and that they've got this, just to end the interaction.
His help is clear, structured, almost teacher-like. He walks through steps and anticipates confusion, mitigating it preemptively. He's very good at making things sound simple.
He may, however, steer them towards his way of thinking instead of encouraging independent reasoning.
Mihael Keehl
He would help reluctantly and only under certain conditions: he's in a good mood, he likes the person, or his ego is involved.
If someone incompetent or overly dependent asks, he will snap, "Figure it out yourself!"
He'd be mildly irritated at first, but he'd become engaged if the material is challenging or prideful if he gets to demonstrate his superiority.
His help is direct, fast-paced, and often impatient. He explains once and excepts you to keep up.
If they improve, he becomes more invested, prideful, and less hostile.
But if they don't, he may take over out of frustration or simply disengage and make them figure it out on their own.
Mail Jeevas
He would likely help if it's low effort, he likes the person, or he's just bored.
He's mostly indifferent about it, but can become amused if the person doesn't take it too seriously.
His help is relaxed and informal. He's likely to use shortcuts, tricks, or analogies. He may even turn it into something game-like.
He doesn't over-explain and adjusts to the person's pace easily.
He becomes more supportive and laid-back if they struggle, but can become frustrated and disengage if they consistently don't get it.
If they start relying on him too much, he starts deflecting their request or continuing to 'help' while not actually being helpful until they just stop asking.
Nate River
He would rarely help. If he does, it's because he finds it intellectually interesting.
If it's something simple, he may provide a brief bit of advice or simply disengage without concern for politeness. He has extremely low social obligation, so he wouldn't help just to be nice.
He is largely detached and doesn't care if they succeed or fail. At best, he may feel mildly curious.
His help is minimal but precise. However, he has a tendency to skip steps that he considers 'obvious' and often answers the core principle rather the exact question.
He doesn't adapt easily to their understanding level and likely continues his own activity while explaining.
If they struggle, he doesn't elaborate unless prompted. He expects them to bridge the gap independently.
I feel like Mello would actually be very reflective and introspective. I'd say that he generally thinks about his own actions more than it would seem, but is prone to acting recklessly due to his intense emotions. They have a strange relationship. He desires to understand himself. However, with this desire and constant unravelling of self, he doesn’t get anywhere with it because he constantly tries to rebuild his identity rather than truly examine it. Mello wants to be perfect. In my experience, when you want to be perfect you spend a lot of time analyzing everything about yourself and others. But he tends to feel fast and strongly, which, as I’ve been saying, is what prevents the sort of cool calculation you observe in other characters like Near, L, and Light. I also feel like sometimes he self-sabotages his own attempts at understanding his character. He’s insecure. He does not feel prideful about who he is. Most of what he feels is an intense need to be “fixed”, or just change himself/improve in whatever way it takes to become number one. Due to this, he’s not likely to actually solve his own problems or identify them. He constantly is trying to instead reinvent himself or his actions to achieve his goals. So, yeah, I think he would be pretty denying. His own self-dissatisfaction causes a constant cycle of attempts at introspection, then emotionally exploding, etc. Mello has been shown to have empathy. He feels sorry for Matt’s death, he is (sort of?) nice during that whole kidnapping of Light’s sister (if I remember correctly), and even giving Takada the towel seemed to show consideration. This shows me that at his heart he is a good person. Take that lightly, as I tend to be both delusional and biased, but anyways. I like to think that he is a good person who is just conflicted and doesn’t know how to handle emotions. To me, it seems he sometimes abandons some aspects of his emotions to pursue others (such as abandoning morals out of an extraordinary motivation.) Although he is impulsive, he thinks about things after the fact. I think he experiences immense emotional turmoil over his own goals and feels bad for his actions, but has learned to bottle up his emotions. If not for Wammy’s, I believe Mello would’ve turned out to be a very different person. Anyways. Thank you for listening to an idiot’s rambling. And a reminder to never send your kid to some weird orphanage in england.
THIS. colossalfart is preaching. n you should LISTEN.
my own addition:
mello also would be really artistic. have you seen his fashion? it's something that realistically does not matter much (see: L, near). but mello makes sure to look good. this is driven by many things: first off, he's in the mafia. a place that values appearances. leather has a very certain look about it that would fit the image he's going for . next, it's also in stark contrast to his "competition" (it's terribly one-sided), near, who does not give a singular shit about his appearance. mello wants to beat near by his own self, using his own methods, being himself as he is. not by using near's own methods against him. he'd also feel this way because he interprets near's remarks about his emotionality as a flaw when i think near saw the double-edged sword here (mello's emotions can make him rash, but they also work as a startlingly strong motivator) and was poor at phrasing it in a way that mello would not feel defensive about (actually, i dont really think there is a particular kind of phrasing which mello wouldnt feel defensive about). so, i also think mello projects his own self-loathing onto near and perceives everything near does towards him as something condescending when it's actually... not. now, remember that i said that mello wants to beat near while still retaining his own identity? yeah well he exaggerates his identity (kidnapping arc) and then recoils when his identity is fractured (after the explosion) but he still needs to be strong and intimidating (in his mind) so he continues to try and compensate for that. that's through fashion, by the way. i actually don't know what point im trying to make but i just know in my bones that mello is a very artistic person and he actively suppresses it because wammy's does not reward artists.
I drew a Mephisto meme based on the Bugs Bunny meme 😏
I feel like Mello in a burn compression mask has a lot of potential.
