Revenge of The Island x Steven Universe crossover- Complete
Yayyy everyone’s done. I’ve also tried to fit them into the story of SU, or least a heavily modified version of it lol.
Info on all of ‘em below!
Sam is one of the core Crystal gems. He lives in the temple and would’ve been around since episode 1. His touchy subject is Dakota, who he was in love with during the wartime period. She was corrupted by the diamonds and Sam refuses to treat her like a monster. He keeps her bubble close at all times, waiting for the day he can heal her. Otherwise he’s techy and likes to study human technologies. His masculine gender expression catches on in this group, lol. He’s a trailblazer.
For Dakota specifically, she’s not realllly part of the story for a long time, but Steven tries to heal her instead of Nephrite and after that she not nearly as violent and Sam stays with her. Once she’s uncorrupted her arc is a more focused version of the little homeschool gems’ stuff.
Zoey is part of a crew with Mike, Lightning, and Anne Maria. They’re high ranking and Mike is their leader. Kyanites are feared in gem society as disciplinarians. Anne Maria (Corundum) and Zoey (Bixbite) are both into Kyanite and they hate each other. Lightning (Labradorite) is disliked by the other three but he’s by far the strongest fighter. He’s young and arrogant. They all act as a minor villain group that the Crystal Gems have to deal with in this extended story. (Maybe the show’s 8 seasons or something.)
Mike is struggling with hiding the fact he’s defective, as he has DID in this Universe as well. Zoey is the most compassionate of the four and the two of them secretly just want to run away somewhere safe together. Steven helps them out as always.
Lightning likes good fights, and when Steven has proven himself stronger than Lightning, Lightning chills out. He’s not really on homeworld’s side, he’s too dumb to really pick sides. But he likes the Earth, and that little scrawny gem. He’ll take ‘em under his wing.
Anne Maria is the toughest nut to crack, but it’s not too long once Mike switches that she does too. She knows when she’s lost. She struggles with entitlement and not having gems to pamper her, but she’s got a more compassionate center than you’d expect.
Cameron(Rubellite) pops out of the Beta kindergarten mid show. You thought Amethyst was late? Cameron is way over baked and tiny. He’s nervous and is trying to figure himself out throughout the show. Lightning eventually steps in and the two become friends. Cameron is also very close with Steven, Amethyst, and Peridot due to his background.
B(ammolite) is a technician on homeworld who’s a really chill guy. Him and Staci come into the story at around the same time, and assist the Crystal Gems in infiltrating homeworld. He’s still mute, and has been mistreated for a very long time because of it. He’s scraped by in the darker parts of the gems’ home planet by being one of the best of his kind- he’s got a perfect cut, too bad for the placement. Perfect for the off colors.
Staci is a Halite, which is a very common, easy to create gem with no abilities. She just wants to be seen as more than a rock under other gems’ feet. She’s come to an interesting way of coping with that, telling tall tales no one believes. She’s with the off colors.
Dawn is also with the off colors, a green variant of a sapphire with two eyes that see ‘useless’ things such as auras and emotions. She initially escaped with Padparascha and they joined the off colors together. She gets along well with B and Staci. On their adventures through the galaxy, Dawn is the off colors’ flora and fauna specialist.
Jo is a prideful Jasper. Where have we heard that before? She’s a lot younger than original Jasper and is very envious of her status and strength. She’s always been second fiddle. Jo’s a minor antagonist whose arc really starts when Jasper is corrupted. Jo takes over as the villain until Steven and another gem get through to her that she’s going to end up just like Jasper if she keeps going the way she is. Jo is forced to admit that strength isn’t everything, and she’s able to help Jasper in the later seasons.
Scott(Amber) and Brick(Onyx)’s arc are connected. Scott is a vicious spy type figure- Ambers are very rare and often used for thwarting subterfuge and carrying out espionage missions. Brick is assigned to Scott as a bodyguard misdirection. Scott is a lot more dangerous than Brick, but most gems wouldn’t suspect that. The two have been together for a looooong time, and Brick is the good cop to Scott’s bad. They escaped the Diamond’s attack that ended the war, both having participated. They’re also a lot closer than they’re supposed to be, but Scott makes absolutely sure no one knows. Scott is only soft around Brick.
If I had to compare Brick to another Gem, it’d be Topaz, but he actually follows through with helping Steven. He’s empathetic and hates what the missions he and Scott are assigned to do to his partner. Their turning point is when Brick ends up in danger during a mission with the Crystal Gems involved and Scott accidentally fuses with him to save him. Other homeworld gems see this and the two have to flee to not be shattered. On Earth, Brick and Scott are finally able to be together freely, which takes a lot of adjustment, specifically on Scott’s part. Brick helps Jo realize her dangerous path and the two become friends.
