For those who need some help moving on + shit.
It’s so much easier shifting the blame. It’s so much easier to just point your finger at the one who put you through what felt like agonizing, flesh-eating, never-ending pain.
“You did this to me. I’ll never be the same.”
When it works-- it’s because of them.
When it falls apart--it’s because of them
When the stain doesn't fade away--it’s because of them.
But where is our credit?
Did we not pour every drop of energy into what could have been? Did we not give every piece that we could find into making it work? Did we not sacrifice a tiny piece of ourselves for little in return? Did we not lose a bit of ourselves along the way?
Where is our credit?
Mourning an ex, or a failed relationship, or someone that made your stomach flutter is a necessary process in order to be strong enough to do something many of us cowardly cancel out time and time again... moving on.
Recognizing when something no longer serves you-- That’s on you.
Letting go of someone who doesn't deserve you-- That’s on you.
Facing something that still hurts you-- That’s on you.
Hoarding sadness and pain doesn’t make that person feel any less gone than they are. (Or should be.) It just makes you feel alone. Hopeless. Empty.
Give yourself some God damn credit. You are more than capable of loving and being loved.
This is isn’t a “if it was meant to be, it would have been” post.
This is a... yeah, we meet incredible people. and yeah, we get hurt along the way, and sometimes it really fucking hurts, and we think we’ll never be the same because of it. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe you got something out of it. Maybe not. But after investing and watering a plant that has no sustainable soil to grow in, you are only wasting resources that cannot be returned. Time. Energy. Tears.... Holding on to that wilted and rotten plant, is only hurting you. Taking away from your potential.... post.
After all you’ve been through, don't you think you deserve a fresh pot? With fertile seeds? Room to grow?
You do. I know this because we all do.
Get rid of the weeds that poison you. Take the space you need and spread your roots. Put yourself first, and watch yourself bloom.
