calling timothy chalemet unc truly does feel like the whitest possible appropriation of that word bc like. yeah for sure poking fun at the older gen is an experience with some universality but terms like unc/auntie in african, indigenous & asian cultures across the board originated as terms of respect & kinship. like you use these words instead of their name because (1) you are not peers. they’re have endured the horrors since before you were born and (2) to reflect that despite your lack of direct blood relation they are like family to you. you’re fond of them. they’ve looked out for you.
