Optimus Prime’s compassion is something that I will always adore. Even in Bayverse when he was being “mean”(justifably crashing out) to untustworthy humans, he was always very mindful of his environment and the space he took up.

I also find it interesting when Optimus’s kindness goes so far that it turns into a character flaw. In WFC when even OP is called out by a wounded Megatron for trying to save him when to end the war, all he had to do was nothing at all. It goes even further in the Energon Universe/Skybound comics, with Optimus refusing to use energon that was harvested from organic material(earth animals/humans) to feed those left starving on Cybertron.

Marahute the eagle and her animation are some of my most formative memories of learning to adore animation as a discipline. I wore out our VHS tape of this movie just watching her sequences over and over again.

The speed, scale, weight and accuracy with which lead animator Glen Keane captures her motion and movement, and balances the scales between anthropomorphizing her and keeping her strictly animal... it's just masterful. It is so, so beautiful as a piece of craft.
