Bernd and Hilla Becher were German photographers who worked on grouped portraits of mundane industrial buildings. In these two images, London-based artist Idris Khan has superimposed all the Becher compositions of a certain type of structure into a single depiction, where the multiple layers can just about be discerned. The sets of gasholders become blurred and energised as one.
