moderne-prinsesse:
lluminism
It took everything in her power not to laugh.
Good answer.
The King, knowing his oldest child was mere seconds away from ruining everything, decided it may be best to cut this interaction short.
“Well, I hope we don’t disappoint,” he starts with a warm smile. “Why don’t we talk more tomorrow? After you’ve had a night’s rest. Emelia, show Kai to his room.”
The idea of them being alone already was nerve-wracking, but she knew they would be watched closely. Both by his men and hers. But if this elf prince did mean her harm, would her guards be able to reach her in time?
Regardless, she turned to her father and bowed.
“Yes, father.” And then, turning to Kai, “Please, follow me, sir.”
That seemed odd, calling him sir. Should they be on a first name basis? Should she have called him dear?
No. Sir would have to do.
As she leads them out of the throne room, The Queen’s voice trails after them.
“It’s been a pleasure meeting you, Kai.”
She feels tense. Awkward. And for once, the young princess is at a loss for words. What does one even say in a situation like this? After a moment of weighted silence, something comes to mind.
“Don’t worry about my brother,” she says without looking at him. Emelia doesn’t specify which brother. She doesn’t have to. “He would never bring you harm. He respects my father too much.”
“Of course, it would be quite pleasant to speak more later.”
The simple statement came with a nod of his head as his smile fell. Yes, talking with the king tomorrow would most likely be more enjoyable than it was at the moment, after all he was in a room surrounded by a whole family, not counting the guards around them. It put a lot of pressure on him to answer in certain ways.
The king seemed quite nice though, so far.
Resisting the urge to laugh at being called sir, Kai bit the inside of his cheek and turned on his heel to follow the small female to where he would be resting from now on.
That is, until he was married, he supposed.
Though his guards were following them quite closely, they knew how to keep enough distance behind the two to allow them some sort of privacy.. Or a sense of it, anyways.
Not that it mattered, since there was a heavy silence between the two. Speaking informally wasn’t a thing that could possibly happen at this point in time since they both had to keep up their good impressions. But when he heard the comment on Emelia’s brother, an eyebrow raised immediately.
Letting out a laugh- Not a false one, a real genuine laugh, Kai took a large step so he was walking beside the girl instead of behind. “I’m not worried, he’s still a child. One day he’ll be able to hold his tongue.”
Cringing on the inside of how he sounded like his father as he said that sentence, he shook his head slightly to himself. Why must he sound like an old wise elf?
Well.. He supposed he was old compared to these humans, but still.
