a neurotypical: if you have noise sensitivity why do you listen to loud music?
me: one loud noise is easier than 20 loud noises all at once.
Me: Loud music that I can control is better than loud noises I cannot control
Please read if youāre a student
You are NOT PROCRASTINATING, if - youāre sick - you have headache - you feel pain - youāre exhausted - you feel anxious - you have had big changes in your life that make you feel tired/restless/anxious/sad - you have to skip a class/take rest because of reasons I mentioned above. Itās not procrastinating. Youāre not lazy. Everyone needs to have rest and take care of themselves when theyāre sick. IT IS NOT OKAY TO WORK IN PAIN. Donāt burn out. Itās not worth it. Do not feel guilty. After some rest and relaxing you will study even more effectively. If you feel pain, - take a medicine if it works for you - put all of your books away - take warm shower - eat at least 1 healthy thing and 1 treat/feel-good-food, drink water - go to bed, sleep or read a book/listen to music that is not related to your schoolĀ (if you have headache/migraine I suggest you to switch off the lights and just sleep) - just take your time - itāll be all okay.
i needed this
Staying confident in social interactions
In the last few years I gained a lot of confidence when it comes to talking to people. I went from not being able to talk to my classmates to being the entertainer on school events. I have a bunch of tips to share that could help you with talking to people:
No matter what, youāre gonna be fine -There are very few ocassions in which you could not apply this rule. Even in important interviews or in situations where the conversation could have a huge impact on your life, youāll be fine. Very often we forget that even the things that are a huge deal for us, canāt really hurt at that much. So I just want you to walk into a conversation with this in mind.
The other person has no clue whatās happening either -The most important thing I have learnt while working as a teacher is that teachers are just as lost as the students are. Apply this rule to your entire life and there you go. Neither of us has any clue whatās happening ever. Everyone is making things up on the go, including the intimidating person youāre afraid to talk to.
Never trying is going to hurt you more than trying and failing -Look, you gotta put yourself out there, otherwise you wonāt build friendships and relationships in general.
No matter how weird you (think) are, thereās someone whoāll love you -And they will love you for you. I love my friends for very specific things, weird quirks that are so true to them. Show people the real you and there will be someone whoāll love you and who you will be happy with.
I hope I helped and have a great weekend
PS: sorry for grammar mistakes and sentences that donāt make sense. I wrote this rather late after a long work day. thank you for understanding!
everything happens for a reason but like, what the fuck
just wanted to remind whoever's reading this that you're not alone and that everything's going to be okay. š¼
For anyone whoās life currently feels like theyāre going up the wrong escalator in coconut mall right now, stay strong and I believe in you
Me: Alright, Iāve finished up this spontaneous project I focused on for like 3 hours. Time for bed.
Me the next day: I should probably publish the thing now, since Iāve finished it and everything! Itās all ready to go, so I should⦠do that!
My Executive Dysfunction: No.
Me: What.
My Executive Dysfunction: No
Me: Why.
My Executive Dysfunction: n o .
[never publishes the thing]
Executive dysfunction is like: *puts headphones in ears* *doesnāt turn on music*
PSA: Halloween is pretty much here and it only takes on second to send a sick child in the hospital a Spook-o-gram. The best part about this is that $1 gets donated to CHLAās Helping Hand fund each time you send one out. So letās help some kids have a spectacular Halloween by sending them spook-o-grams and helping cause!!
me: *is about to start crying*
also: wait no bitch youāre dehydrated enough
hereās to everyone hitting a low point after doing really well. youāre amazing and so strong and your hard work is not erased. you will find happiness again
sometimes i have to stop myself from literally begging people to understand me lol
ADHD Severity
The DSM-5 actually lists three severity for ADHD:
Mild ā few, if any, symptoms in excess of those required to make the diagnosis are present, and symptoms result in no more than minor impairments in social or occupational functioning (mild symptoms, enough to be diagnosed ie, 5/9 symptoms from the list but not too bad)
Moderate ā symptoms or functional impairment between āmildā and āsevereā are present (between mild and severe)
Severe ā many symptoms in excess of those required to make the diagnosis, or several symptoms that are particularly severe, are present; or the symptoms result in marked impairment in social or occupational functioning. (severe symptoms, more than the 5/9 needed, and affects social/education/work quite a bit to a LOT)
These severities can be used per symptom or overall.
