“I’m not one of those people who can do what they’re told. My freedom is very important to me. Many of these people have jobs that take their dignity away. They have to do them so they can pay for their car and their house. I don’t concern myself with the things I don’t have. I don’t do what I don’t like. But I’m expected to conform with the rest of the culture.” “Do people ever judge you?” “Most people don’t have the courage to say it to me. They just give me a disgusted look or say something under their breath when they’re walking by.” “Do you have any plans or goals?” “To help people.” “How do you do that?” “Lately it’s been with toothpaste and lighters. I like to give lighters away. They’re very valuable to many of the people around here. I always carry extra ones. And I make my own toothpaste.” “How do you make it?” “Look around you. You see all those green things? I have a medicinal plant reference book. It’s the only book I read. I don’t read novels or anything like that. I don’t want my emotions to be pulled all over the place. I don’t watch TV. I want to be in control of my thoughts. I don’t have an interest in someone moving my mind in a direction I don’t want it to go. It’s called ‘programing’ for a reason.”
