Well, firstly, if someone comes and says I want to believe, than the first step has already been taken. Because he actually does believe. I, for instance, never in my life doubted that this man and this woman that claimed to be my parents are indeed my parents even though nobody could prove that to me. It's not dependent on whether I feel those are my parents, because to believe means to trust, the same word as in the Bible. I trust that my entire environment hasn't lied to me. I never checked, because it's overwhelming. I can trust. I can trust people who tell me they have a real, living connection to God, even when I cannot feel it in the moment.
