Svala had been out back with the twins, watching them play and occasionally joining in, with spring coming soon the two would want to be outside more. The snow melting and flowers growing only meant more time to play outside.
She was sitting in the grass with Etta helping her make flower crowns when she heard her oldest and smirked, turning to see him, “I believe it is you who have forgotten us, that is until you need to do laundry.” She chuckled getting up and hoisting up Etta onto her hip, careful not to smash the armful of crowns the little girl had wanted made. “well, there is still time for a meal and I’m sure Iris would love to come and see you before you’re off again.”
She grinned as Etta placed a crown on her brother’s head, “unless you’d rather complain about our lack of attention.” She chuckled raising her brow wondering where Adrienne and Adrik had gone.
Adrik noticed Adrienne wandering back inside. He stayed outside against the tree for a few minutes, enough time to lull herself into a false sense of security in whatever devious little plan she thought she had before he followed her. He caught her in the room where he and Svala kept most of their weapons. She was climbing up on a table to get one of the swords that she normally practices with. “Not so fast, what’d I say? We don’t play with swords unless Dad or Mom are here. And we always ask.” He walked over and scooped her into his arms, giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Now go play with your sister. It’s not sparring time yet.”
Just as he was walking back out, he heard his son. “When you say out of the nest, is it really out of the nest if you life with your grandmother, who provides for you and doesn’t make you pay rent?” Rik asked, knowing that he and his son had a deal for him to find a job so he could learn to be financially responsible. “How could we forget about you? The girls might have though.” He looked down at Adrienne. “Who is that man? Do you know him?” She grinned, running over to hug her brother.
“How’s Mom?” he asked, wondering how his mother was doing since he’d last spoken to her. “Is it already time to wash your clothes again, or are you just visiting because you miss your family?”
“I could never, and I’ll stay for a couple of days, that is if father can find some kindness in his heart and let me stay here free of charge.” Die smiled playfully and leaned down for his sister to place the crown on his head before tickling her sides, “Do I look pretty?” he asked and wrapped his arms around her and his mother and hugged them both kissing their heads before turning as he heard his father’s voice.
“Well I wouldn’t have to had stay with grandma if I had enough money for a place of my own you know?” He was well aware that he was arguing just for the sake of arguing because even if he got a place somewhere he wasn’t really ready to just stay in one place for too long. “Well I was worried about your memory in your old age.” He teased as he approached his father and his sister when the girl ran towards him as he leaned down to catch her and pulled her up for a hug before placing her back down and walking towards his father for a hug.
“Grandma is well, at least last I saw her... And now that you mention it and going back to the laundry... I do have some stuff with some... red stains that needs some washing, grandma and I had a lot of fun...” He added with a mischievous smile, he probably had more fun than grandma but she looked like she was having fun when they were fighting together.
“You’d be happy to know I did find a job...” He said as he offered his hand to Adrienne and walked with her towards Etta and took her hand as well. “As a merchant... I leave for the Dark World realm in a couple of days.” He said and walked with his sisters towards the house. “Come on girls, let’s go play.”
