Loaded March - The Final Compilation

Finally! Apologies for being so late, life was not dealing me a good hand, but all 16 parts of Loaded March have now been compiled into 1 gigantic format. I once asked if I should break them into smaller parts, but tumblr user @wyntersoldat advised “mate no. make it into one huge pdf just for the satisfaction of it :D”

You were right. Now that it’s all done, this feels amazing. With over 1.28 million words and 3000 pages on my Microsoft Word doc, you can bet this compilation has been a labour of love! I can’t believe I’ve been doing this since October 2012. Man, the amount of time and formatting I’ve done on this, it’s been tiring at times, but still I’m really glad to have been able to share it with all of you! And guess what, since it’s all over now, I decided to try my hand at converting it into epub too. Took a bit of tweaking, but hopefully this one works :) Much better than my previous attempt anyway. So yes, there are both PDF and EPUB compilations available now!

FYI: Some major difference between The Final Compilation and previous versions (besides the obvious addition of Parts 15 and 16) is an addition Intro page and consistent section breaks. I couldn't make sense of why Footloose was having different sections breaks, but if you’ve got some insight, do share with me! And I’ll.... go back and change them all I guess....

Anyway, I’ve had a really great time and I’m looking forward to what other beautiful gems Footloose will be creating :) And well, if they write anymore Big Fic, I’ll see if I can help again :)

xkit is definitely still a big thing, but now it's a browser extension called XKit Rewritten (the old version is mostly defunct) and a lot of stuff xkit used to be used for has since been integrated into tumblr's actual UI (like blacklisting, timestamps on posts, and viewing people's reblog tags in your activity feed). if your dashboard looks like twitter now and you hate that, there's a script you can run to make it not look like that. i can dig that up for, if you want, it's called the dashboard unfucker 😂

funnily enough, this method of replies right here used to be a thing, then was taken away (kept alive partially through xkit), but was very recently brought BACK as a tumblr function!! but it's part of the fucked up twitter-esque dashboard that i refuse to use 😅 you should be able to respond to replies from the little clickable activity feed on the lefthand side of the dashboard, if i recall correctly, and it should format like this just like it used to back in ye olden days, as a new textpost that automatically tags the replier you're responding to.

I totally did not register the "dashboard looks like twitter thing" until you pointed it out and I think that means that I have been on twitter for too long...

Also, I tried clicking on the activity notification and it just brought me to the post instead of bringing up a new textpost like you said? Unless I'm doing something wrong (entirely possible). Perhaps I should look into that new version of xkit some time

this little quote-looking button here should set up a reply textpost the proper way!! with my dashboard unfucked, the activity dropdown is from the topbar, but i'm pretty sure it's on the left in the twitterified version.

if you want to un-twitterify it, make it look more like the tumblr of olde, here's a post with a link to the script and an explanation of how to install it! it's working wonderfully for me! and, as always, i do very much recommend XKit Rewritten, it's everything to me, it's my firstborn child, it waters my crops and clears my skin ♥

That button only pops up with xkit! Which, yes I got around to getting it and it feels like things are finally Right and Proper again :]

Thank you for the link also to the un-twitterfy thing!! I will admit I'm a bit too lazy to change things atm but it is good to know I can do that in the future if I get sick of the layout!!

Hi again! :) if you are using a Windows computer and you think that Word doc you’re looking for might still be on it, I would recommend the program Everything (from voidtools (dot) com)! It can search the names of every single file on your computer very very quickly, so you could type .doc to see every single Microsoft Word doc on your computer and filter down from there if you wanted. It won’t help if you know it’s only in the cloud somewhere and not on your computer tho.

​Hello!! Unfortunately I no longer do, and also I am remembering that some years ago my laptop crashed so I had to change to a new one and I do not think I had it fully backed up... (I have since learnt my lesson...) So I can only hope that I had ever saved a copy onto a separate hard drive or on the cloud before :') But thank you for the suggestion!!

Hello everyone, it's been a while. Recently I've returned to the Merlin fandom because I saw some gifset of them and The Feels, as we used to say back in the day (do we still say that now?), came back in a sudden and mad rush. I've been revisiting some old merthur fics (and also trying to find some new ones too) when I realised that I ought to have a fresh copy of dear old Loaded March extracted straight from AO3 itself and save them all, because you never know these days. And then while I was doing that, I realised that I couldn't find my compilation in my fic library! The very thing that I had spent much a time putting together, I do not know where it is?? And so I had to make my way back here to find the links where I had uploaded the compilations hahaha

Anyhow. I'm glad my uploads are still intact and that mediafire is still a functional site (you really never know these days). I hope I might be able to find the original and alarmingly big word document again some day... It's probably in some drive I hope...

I'm not sure if anyone still checks these tags or still follows this blog. If you see this then I think it's lovely that this has reached you again after so many years and I hope you are doing well!

P.S. As of today, the PDF has 1125 downloads while the EPUB has close to 800. Apparently in March 2018 they were at 332 and 225 respectively. It blows my mind that so many people checked them out. Thank you for the lovely support and I hope the compilations have been of service to you! ETA: Since I haven't been here a long while, I also decided to go and look at tags on the reblogs of the compilation post that I've missed... You are all so very lovely, thank you for the kind words :')

In case you are still wondering what I'm talking about: I had in the past made a compilation of all 16 parts (and I am now remembering, also one of the extras!) of Loaded March into a single document, available in both PDF and EPUB formats, which are both available for download :] It's the pinned post in my tumblr, or you can access it here.

Hi! So this question sounds totally stupid but I can't figure out how to open the PDF. I see the button that says Loaded March PDF, but nothing happens when I click it? I just wanted to read it all in one shot and this seemed perfect. I am probably missing something very basic... :)

Anyway! No worries at all, that button is actually the title of the blog, so like, it links you to the home page haha, please look to the post right below this ask (now that I have deleted the clutter) for the links. Please let me know if there are problems with them :) Enjoy~!

(Apologies though, for the fact that there are probably like some problems with formatting in it, I didn’t manage to catch all of them when I first did it and I still haven’t gotten the time to clean it up, cause it’s a REALLY big file and very tiring and troublesome to comb through. Loaded March 1-14 omnibus epub/mobi

I made this after looking around for a copy and not finding it. Basically I downloaded epubs from AO3 and then fixed the formatting in Calibre, and merged them all together into an omnibus. I’ll update it (and offer a new link) when the next installment comes out.

Hey, I saw your post about making a Loaded March epub a while ago? I actually made an omnibus epub and mobi copy of the series with, if I may so, great formatting (I may be a bit of a nerd when it comes to creating/formatting ebooks!) But I can't embed a link in an ask, apparently, so I'm not sure how to share it.

Did you/anyone get around to making an epub version yet? Need very badly please help!

I have not, unfortunately! I did try it the other day but the formatting wasn’t to my liking and so I was going to mess around with the settings and all when I have the time. Which, sadly, I don’t have now.

I’m not sure if anyone else has made a compiled epub version yet though! If anyone has, and is willing to share, do message me! :)
