is anyone else annoyed that "ai" encompasses both chatgpt and tools we train to do repetitive tedious work for us. and by the ripple effect of articles like "scientists develop ai to detect cancer early" that make people argue for the merit of chatgpt or become anti-medicine. and by the general state of the world and society

Seeing people I know and like using AI is making me understand the protagonists of those old time sci fi dystopia's.

"Oh I don't normally use AI, I just wanted it to plan my trip"

You lived on this planet for decades, you know what you like, there are hundreds of websites where you can type into any search engine " things to do in [area]" and have at least a hundred different options.

"Oh I only use it so I can figure out what to make during the week with what I have"

The most popular website as you type in "recipes" into google have sections where you click dinner- quick and easy and those usually rely on staples + 1 or 2 items. I found 30 recipes on chicken alone.

"I had a writing idea, so I typed a few sentences into Chat GPT and I was able to write 20 pages with it."

Having to explain that chatgpt isn't "helping you put your words in a more understandable and digestable form". It is nuetering your ability to think creatively and implement your interests in a manner solely you could devise of. It is warping your idea of what art is and is subconsciously turning you into a walking billboard that despite me literally having enough of it and finally yelling at you to "cut it the fuck out you absolute shill! Do not ask me to use AI again. I do not want some thing to do my art. I want to do my art!" You cannot help but continue to attempt to show me examples of how AI helped you with your art. So I have to continuously hurt your feelings by telling you this ain't your art. You didn't create it. And youve become useless to speak to about my own endeavors and no longer have the will to undergo your own.

Alright, I've heard that VOTOMS is "Gundam for people who think that Gundam's for pussies," and I've been curious how that manifested outside of a main hero who's currently too manly for a personality. I would've thought it meant not dipping into Newtype stuff, but episode 4 gave us Chirico having some sort of danger premonition:

Of course, that might just be a stylized flash of recognition. But the psychic stuff might be much more of a central part of mecha anime than I was expecting. That'd make sense to a degree; in a genre that has to fit a war narrative into battles that are often duels or small gang fights, you need to be able to explain what the deciding factor is in a visually interesting way, and can't appeal to battle tactics as much as you could in stories focused on whole units more than individual pilots. "Battle sense" and "a will to survive" already take you halfway there.

i honestly don't really understand why "some people prefer watching gameplay online rather than playing games themselves" is treated as such a taboo when being a spectator is considered a pretty mundane way to engage with most sports, game shows, reality tv or even just like. chess.

Ok before I answer should I consider my hometown the town I was born in? The town I experienced the majority of my childhood in? Or the town I went to highschool and college and my family lives in?

Like the first one is the most obvious but I didn't spend enough time there to remember it. The other two are both very distinct and important developmental stages in my life. But like, one of them I was literally a child and have very few life experiences there besides school, neighborhood friends, and the 7/11 down the street. The last, while not where I was born or raised, was where all that raising finally resulted in a complex human being capable of emotional depth, creation of charges and passionate memories, and I always know where I am when I'm there and can say things like "back in the day that was a whole neighborhood" or " this side of town used to have actual people in it" (it's not going well economically here, folks).

So you'd think the last one would be the answer but in the confines of specific inquiry it is important to be clear what is actually being asked.
