I was just wonderinggg.. what would be Astro and 'Fendy's relationship be + when are they going to fully talk to each other? Since if my memory isn't failing me rn.. he would kinda like them due to the burns on their face? (Gonna re-read the fic after I'm done drawing some stuff:3)
Also, (really really sorry if this is rude/gen) when would you be making a new chapterr.. :3?/nf, I really like this au and there's literally no one talking about it and I'm going nuts because of it
Hello! Don't worry! The next chapter is in the works! I have just been dealing with stuff IRL, which is also why I haven't been answering as many asks as of late. Currently hunting for a job and trying to bring in an income...you know, just adulting stuff.
Fear not! As we will be meeting both Dyle and Astro in the next coming chapters! Once we get the next few done, Astro will become a major character in the story.
As for his and Fendy's relationship, I feel that they both will get along and be friends. Mostly because Astro comes to understand Fendy's past on a far deeper level than any of the other Toons because of his ability to infiltrate dreams.
Later on the story, major key points will revolve around ichor and the attack that Fendy has endured in the next coming chapter. It affects them all throughout the story and worsens their condition that Astro eventually gets revealed to Fendy's troublesome past and deepest buried emotions.
Astro feels a strong sense of empathy when dealing with Fendy's night terrors and the more he visits them in their dreams that they are struggling with--he discovers more and more about them that makes him pity their state of mind.
Astro brings the human comfort and tries to keep them from having horrible nightmares all throughout the night, even thought Fends doesn't really ask much of him, nor do they request that he does so.
Despite what Dandy says about Fendy, Astro comes to know Fendy on a much more personal level and tries his best to bring them comfort. In fact, later on in the story when Dandy is ranting about he Defender to Astro, Astro eventually has a coming-apart because he knows what Dandy is saying isn't true.
Astro gets frustrated for the first time with Dandy because he sees all the good that the Defender is trying so hard to do, despite what they are dealing with or how many injuries they sustain on the job. Even when those injuries can threaten their LIFE, they still remain loyal to their Toon friends...and Astro finds that comforting.
Astro also lets a little bit of his encounters slip out in his little bout of frustration. Proclaiming to Dandy that "If only he could have seen what he saw in their dreams" and trailing off. It reveals that Astro is SIDING with the Defender and NOT Dandy for once and it shocks Dandy.
Even so, the little things the human does for him also help in his opinion of them.
From leading more louder Toons away so Astro can sleep in peace, to leaving fresh pillows and blankets in his little napping areas, to even hiding him from other Toons or photographic devices without being asked to do so.
In a way...the way you care for him and the other Toons reminds him of someone he cared about.
You remind him of Austin.
While not the same person...you both have the same merits...and he can appreciate that.
