Understanding The Rule Book
Whenever playing a new game, it’s necessary to read the Rule Book in order to know just how to play the game. If you don’t know the rules, your chances of a successful outcome are pretty slim. This journey of life is a difficult one, but fortunately, God wrote the “Rule Book” setting the guidelines for a joy-filled, meaningful life. When you read God’s Holy Word, you learn what dangers to avoid, how to make good choices and avoid disaster. But even more important, you learn how to live a life that leads to eternal life with your Lord and Savior. Without God’s Rule Book, you would never know right from wrong, or how to avoid the things that hurt yourself or endanger others. God’s Word has the answer for every situation. If you’re confused the Bible brings clarity. When you’re broken hearted–His Words bring comfort and when you don’t know which way to turn–the Holy Scriptures provide wisdom and discernment. Understanding God’s Rule Book requires prayerfully spending time pondering and digesting each word and when you do–you’ll become more balanced, enlightened, strengthened and walk with new purpose–because the Bible is God’s guiding light, and nourishment for your soul. Text: Proverbs 3:6, Psalm 32:8, Psalm 119:11, John 14:14, Philippians 4:19

Following God’s Will
Doing what “God wants” and not what “you want” is a lifelong struggle of “wills”–your will vs.God’s will. Some people think that if they follow God’s plan then there will never be any trouble–but the truth is, trials and tribulation will be with us until Jesus comes! But what you can count on is that God will be with you through every storm–you don’t have to face your struggles alone! Sometimes God allows burdens to draw you ever closer to Him, and it is through your trials that your character is being perfected for heaven. Following God’s will usually leads you way out of your comfort zone–which teaches you to be totally dependent on your Lord and Savior. God won’t force you to serve Him–He wants you to “choose” to serve Him–because you love Him. It is so very important that you are doing the will of your Father–for truly your salvation depends on it. In Matthew 7:21-23 we’re told, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” Wow! It doesn’t get clearer than that! Following God’s will is critical because your salvation depends on it. Text: Ephesians 5:17, Philippians 2:13, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, John 6:38
Melt the Anger
There are times when someone has hurt you so deeply, that there is absolutely no desire within you to forgive. You start building a wall higher and higher, thicker and thicker, all because you don’t want to give them the power to hurt you ever again. The fortress between you and your enemy provides the perfect environment for bitterness, anger, tears and righteous indignation! You find it harder and harder to follow God’s admonition in Matthew 18:21 where He says you should forgive seventy times seven! But before you start feeling all justified for building your wall of defense: think about what Jesus would do. When He was here on earth, people lied about Him, spread rumors and gossip, and ultimately crucified Him on a cross for something He was not guilty of. Yet through it all, He bore the pain in loving silence. Even as He hung on the cross, He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) Instead of falling prey to the bondage of a heart hardened by hurt and betrayal, reach out to Jesus and ask Him to put forgiveness in your heart. Pray that you will love as He loves and allow God to melt the anger in your heart and enjoy the sweet peace of forgiveness! Text: Matthew 18:21-22, 1 John 1:9, Matthew 6:14, Psalm 51:10-12
