Death of a Friendship - Poem
When bad news
stumbles upon your door step
3 am, drunk
and slurring the name
of an old best friend
in it's mouth like whiskey
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā try your best not to react.
When it smacks you
in the face
with the stench of memories
it was drinking from
Try not,
to go down memory lane,
Grasping the clutch
And shifting gearsĀ into
all the fun timesĀ
you two had together.
Don't,
hit reverse and accelerate
into the things that
you should have said
or would have done
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Hold your composure.
Bury your emotions into
the casket of your bosom.
Fix your face stern
For youĀ will call her phone
As your heartĀ sits
on the balcony of your chest
Hoping that her voice
will serenade you to sleep
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā But she won't pick up.
You've messed upĀ oneĀ too many times.
