Here it is! The real Club Silencio at 142 rue Montmartre, Paris... just around the corner from Bourse metro.
Unfortunately it was bucketing down, so although I had my snazzy, beautiful Canon camera with me I had to turn to my Blackberry for a photo. There didn't seem to be much going on there, but I did notice that the club seems to have a new lift.... which, for some reason, I find exciting!
I've heard that it will be a Member's only club. Somehow, I will force my way in there after it opens September.

Somedays I feel like my non-creative, humanities degree with large dashings of analytical thinking, has single-handedly destroyed my creativity.
I seem to recall being quite creative.. apparently I have qualifications in this area... So why does it feel like it's withered away and I can barely remember how to draw? Or have ideas? Or want ideas?
Let this be a lesson to all creative kids/teens... do not let Reason, analysis and logic crush your creativity and enthusiasm. Those last two things are precious and valuable, and if you have talents, use them! All the time!
There are no words for how much I love this film. I'm honestly not sure why because it's amongst one of the most depressing I've ever watched! But it has ALWAYS stuck with me, especially that haunting soundtrack by Shudder To Think.
I wonder if I can buy that soundtrack...
I've been thinking a lot about David Lynch today, and whenever I do that I also think a lot about Gregory Crewdson. This is one of my favourite Crewdson photographs. Just like Lynch his images are simultaneously mundane and frightening. I often wonder what it is that draws me towards that feeling of and invisible and indeterminate foreboding. I think that when an artist or a filmmaker manages to reproduce our nightmares in reality, it just excites me and fascinates me and I want to delve deeper... to find the source of the foreboding.
The secret is that you can never find it. As soon as you find out who's controlling everything, the magic is gone and we know too much about our nightmares to ever again feel frightened.

Does anyone know if paddy hats/sedge hats/conical hats, like the one in the photograph, were worn during the 1910s/1920s? I'm looking for reference to paddy hats in fashion journals/illustrations (specifically but not exclusively French.) I cannot find reference to Chanel using them, but I suspect the conical hat to be present in beach/leisure wear during the 1920s.
Any help from those who know something of fashion history would be VERY much appreciated!
