"Nah, I think I'll keep it. A nice little memento to remember you by," he said, watching her walk away. "Though if you're interested in giving me something else, I think I could oblige." Logan called out after her, not bothering to follow her in the hopes of seeing if she'd walk back his way.

Another One? || Logan & Ella
"I was always their golden girl, wasn’t I? Nothing makes you feel more special than the adoration of a bunch of dead beat drug dealers." His words did sting, but she’d reconciled with her past. She certainly wasn’t proud of the things she’d done, but they seemed far away. At least, they did at the moment. The road to recovery had a habit of distorting, telescoping so that at times progress was hard to measure. It had been a while since the craving had eaten at her like acid, but she could still remember the pain like it had only been hours ago.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a hand in engineering some of those slides. It’s all in the name of getting ahead, right? Pushing just a little more than your competitors, regardless of who gets fucked over along the way. I think you guys get off on it, actually.” She folded her arms, steeling herself against his attacks and her own diseased thinking. Her phone felt heavy in her pocket, and she knew she should call her sponsor, but it felt good to get back at him. She couldn’t count how many times she’d begged him to give her just a little bit more, how many times he’d found her on the verge of collapse. God, she just wanted to yell at him, to scream and kick and scratch until all of her anger left her and she was spent, but that would only be feeding what she was trying to fight. Her demeanor shifted from spiny defense to tenuous peace, the kind that seemed to hover over deep hurt. “But, I’m over it now. I don’t need that in my life anymore. No one does.”
He couldn't help but chuckle at her retorts, an all too heartless, guttural noise reverberating in his throat. There wasn't anything anyone could say to him that could really make him feel much of anything nowadays; everything was a game, and everyone was a pawn to be moved around - and removed from - the chessboard. And though Ella wasn't the same pawn he had once known her to be, she was a person he had certainly manipulated before, used her and abused her, and perhaps most importantly, he had allowed her to do that to herself.
Of course, any guilt he should have felt from profiting at her expense simply wasn't. Years of practice in the sport of denying every emotion - save for the ones that benefited him, even in the most marginal of ways - had spared him from properly confronting what should have been the typical range of human emotion. Now wasn't an exception. He hated her, hated her smile, hated the way she stood tall - endless and beautiful and, now, so pure.
Still, he relaxes. His body isn't filled with the tense feelings of a fight waiting to happen, of anger pumping throughout his veins. Maybe it’s just his body yearning to be around someone normal, again. Maybe it’s him wanting to be normal, himself.
"Is that what you think? Well, here's what I think. You miss it. You miss the highs, the relief it gave you from the shit of the world. You miss begging for it, because back then you actually had something to beg for, to strive for. Day in and day out, you had something to look forward to, a little reward for dealing with the pressure of the day. After all, he world isn't fun when everything's handed to you on a silver platter. It's fucking boring beyond measure." He paused, raising a finger to tip up her chin so that she was looking him in the eye. His voice lowered, Logan leaned in just a little bit more, and said, "But you know what? I can fix all that. Come on, Ella - you know me. If you want something," Logan paused, leaning into her, his lips brushing against the soft skin near her ear, "all you have to do is ask."
Despite what it looked like, Vivian hadn't had a drop if alcohol that evening. Her flamboyance was simply to get a kick out of him and his reaction only made her match his grin. "Who ever said their was an us?" She laughed, stepping back.
"No one. But there's you. And there's me. And that doesn't change the fact that I don't take orders as easily as you might be used to, princess. So, if you really want those panties of yours back, I'd suggest you try something else."

"If you say so. A good start, I hope?"
"I wasn’t saying that. I was just saying that if you’d like to have the proper ritual of dinner and a club,” she repeats his own words back to him with a teasing glint in her blue eyes, “you’ll have to let me know ahead of time. Y’know, text or call me or something.” A shrug accompanies her suggestion, and she’s sure that it’s obvious what she’s asking for. How could she resist the possibility to get Logan’s number? Willow could always tell him that she might have something coming up soon, but she doesn’t exactly know him well enough to invite him just yet. It was in her nature to be wary of men she hasn’t known for very long.
"Well, I'd certainly like to think so."
It doesn't escape Logan, the notion of what she wants - what she's been hinting at - but he's enjoying the game a little bit too much to give in just yet. So, he simply looks deep into those entrancingly bright eyes of hers, relishing in the simple fact that she has no qualms about using one's own words against them. He takes in the information he's been given so far - she's an artist, a dancer, a choreographer, a painter, tall, beautiful. Willow. Her name is a perfect description of the sheer blossom standing in front of him. He's glad that he hasn't told her anything about himself, save for his first name.
"Alright, Baby Blue." He starts, pausing for a bit when the nickname slips out with ease. Letting out a chuckle, he continues, "Let's hear you say it."
Perhaps it's not the healthiest start to a relationship, holding a marginally brag-inducing fact over someone's head, but the girl seems witty enough to come up with a retort smart enough to put a smile on both their faces - or actually ask him for his number. Or, better yet, surprise him entirely.

"Ah, I see," she replies with a quiet laugh, nodding a bit. "My name’s Willow. Are we even now?"
Willow gave him a nod to confirm his question, because she had to admit that she was quite busy. “I’ve got classes for college. I’m an artist and a dancer, I spend most of my time between things I need to do for the two. I’ve dances to choreograph and paintings to see to,” she explains, a little smile on her lips all the while. If there’s anything that makes her happy, it’s talking about the two things in the world that make life worth living to her.
"Not even. But we're off to a start."
He wanted to groan at the mention of college, but found that he couldn't quite bring himself to it. She was so...charming, and even he - a king of cynicism - couldn't speak badly of the idea of formal, post-highschool, pay-out-your-ass education -- that is, until a moment of silence passed between them. All the while, Logan couldn't help but notice that semblance of a smile playing up the corners of her lips, the topic clearly being a favorite of hers.
"Well, with all that on your plate, doesn't seem like you've got much time, certainly not for someone like me. Got a concert or something coming up soon?" He asked, unable to help himself from finding out more.

"The wrong crowd? I didn’t think you had any issues with ‘the wrong crowd.’ As I remember it, you and the wrong crowd were always on pretty good terms." She was being harsh, and she knew it. The program told her not to lash out like this, to make amends instead, but the cruelty gave her a sick high. Finally, she was the one in control of their dynamic.
She didn’t like looking at him, that was clear immediately. Just the sight of him made her feel weak inside, made her hands feel like they were trembling again. She could feel sick desire welling in her, thick and acidic, attempting to swallow her progress with diseased thoughts. “Life doesn’t end when you’re on the wagon. In fact, I’d even say the view is better.”
"Not when the wrong crowd happens to be competing sellers." He spoke, roughness edging his blunt words. "And as I remember it, you used to be quite fond of the wrong crowd, though I'd venture a guess that the wrong crowd loved you even more."
A part of him wondered if his words made any impact on her whatsoever, or if she truly had recovered well enough to take that kind of a hit. Either way, Logan got some kind of weird elation from it - the thought that he could actually make someone else feel something was as strangely empowering as it was enticing.
"The thing about wagons is that they're just so damn easy to tip over. Slide a little bit wayward and the whole thing just falls crashing to the ground." Truth be told, he wasn't always so metaphorical in conversation, but this was intrinsically different. He knew Ella, had seen her at her lowest points - which were often when she was at her highest - and had even enforced a few of those times, allowing them to come to fruition by his hand. And now? He just wanted to add more insult to injury, delighting in the experience of it all.

"We’ll see. I’m quite the busy lady, but I’m sure I can pencil you in."
With a quiet hum of consideration, she shrugs and gives him yet another smile, assessing him for a moment as she thinks of what to respond with. Willow’s unable to help the continuation of their teasing banter, though, and takes a moment to gasp as if she’s shocked, placing her hand over her chest. “I don’t know about you, but I’m perfectly normal. Is there something you’re not telling me, my dear Logan?”
"I'm not one to reveal my hand before the proper ritual of dinner and a club." He teased back simply. "And, besides, you haven't even told me your name. Now, that's not at all fair, is it?"
Of course, Logan doesn't quite expect her to play fair, but it would be nice to be able to put a pretty name with a pretty face, at the very least."Busy?" He asks, referring to her original question. "Busy doing what, exactly?" New York was an easy enough place to lose yourself to, and Logan couldn't help but wonder what the hell it was that had managed to tie her down - if there was any such thing, of course.

"I never thought I’d see the day when you were upset about a new club opening. Isn’t it just another opportunity to expand business?”
"They're loud and annoying and tend to attract the wrong crowds these days." He responded a bit too soon, before almost stopping as he realized the bright tone of her voice - knowing exactly who he was dealing with before even looking.
When he does finally turn to look her in the face, he feels a sudden sharp feeling prodding at his insides, unfamiliar yet immensely toxic. He resented just how strong she had managed to become, regaining herself with the ease of night turning into day. "Shouldn't you be home?"

Rolling her eyes, she momentarily wonders why she expected any sort of straight answer from him before giving him a sarcastic response. “Positively hilarious. Have you considered becoming a comedian?”
"What, is this your way of asking me out to dinner?" she asks teasingly with a sly grin and a tilt of her head.
"Hmm. Only if that means you coming to my shows."
"Not quite. That would imply that you and I were normal people, wouldn't it? Though, perhaps we could manage it, even if it's just for a night." He teases back, finding ease in the banter between them. He hates to admit it, but he actually fucking likes this one, even if he doesn't know her name. She's tolerable in a different way from the others, though Logan's not sure if it's just the lack of sleep playing tricks on him.
Another One? || Logan & Willow
"I try to keep most of my promises," she assures him. "Why are you so hesitant and judgmental? All I’m asking is for you to go out to a club with me, I’m not asking for you to rob a bank."
"I don’t, that’s why I want to spend time with you to find out."
He shrugs. It's a decent question, but never one that he'd be quick to answer. With the slightest hint of cocky amusement, he says, "I'm not hesitant and judgmental. I'm Logan."
"That's...different." It's the closest thing to a rationalization - if not apology - that Logan can manage. "At a club, of all places, too. Don't people normally go to, like, dinners or something to do that?"

"Assumptions. I’m not telling you to wait around for me, I’m telling you to come with me so I could show you some real fun. You don’t seem to be too excited about this club, and I think you would enjoy it if you had some great company.”
It's almost involuntary, but he looks at her quizzically, as though she had just spoken to him in an entirely foreign language.
"I can't help but wonder if that's a promise you actually intend on keeping." "And, besides, what do you know about the kind of 'fun' I enjoy?"

"Or you could have a drink and loosen up."
"Well, unfortunately for you, not everyone drinks to loosen up. And not everyone drinks to get rid of their problem in the first place. Some of us, unlike your kind, prefer to face our problems head-on."

"Hey if you’re gonna complain about club openings maybe you shouldn’t be living in New York."
"Thank you for the insightful observation. Now, please take it somewhere else, like to a place where it's actually considered."

He glared at her, somewhat questioningly. Of all possible responses, he wasn't expecting something so banal. And as banal as it was, Logan hated the fact that he didn't think of that first.
"Sure, but soon enough, that shit will die out. So, what'll it be then, Miss Business?"
