This is now my third picture of her and Iām starting to think Iām obsessed. Iām very happy with the colors on this image, Iām getting a little more comfortable with the computer program. No story to accompany this image (this time) but I have an idea Iām working on for an image and short story of Ares and Aphrodite meeting.Ā
I recently reread the story of Medea and I donāt know why but she really resonated with me. I know she doesnāt count as a Greek hero, what with all the murdering she does, but you have to admit, Medea has a way of captivating people as made evident by the fact that centuries after her death we still know her name.Ā
My husband bought me a new computer with Adobe Illustrator and while I havenāt used art software in over fifteen years, I gave it a go and Iām not too disappointed with my first try :D
So here is the unofficial cliffnote of Medeaās long and (in some instances savage) story:Ā
I got to play on Adobe Illustrator :D It was very frustrating and took three days compared to a few hours like hand coloring, but I canāt deny how lovely the colors turned out!
But there was one last piece of the Sky Father left unnamed, floating along the water in a white foam of divine seed. Gaia blew the breath of life into the water, then watched as the waves of the oceans lead the mass away from the grizzly scene of patricide towards the quiet white beach of Paphos Cyprus. Here, in the crystal clear waves, something extraordinary happened.
From the foam emerged a shimmering pink clam that opened to reveal a head of thick wavy hair the color of blood, which rose as the being stood. With surefooted steps, a creature rose from the sea, a creature that didnāt resemble the Furies, the Giants, or even the Meliai. No, this creature was something else entirely.
She somewhat resembled the Titans in shape, with smoothe, earth toned flesh and hair that reached past her hips, but there was something different about her face and body that set her apart from her half siblings. Nude, as all beings were after birth, every inch of her perfect form was on display. Long, strong arms, a shapely form, ample breasts and a round bottom. Her dark skin glistened in the remnants of sunlight, giving her the characteristic glow of what Gaia recognized immediately as that of a goddess.

This story is a snippet of a background Iāve written about Aphrodite the Goddess of Love regarding how she became the goddess of love. This piece is rated PG but installments will be rated R and will have additional warnings. Mostly writing this because itās always bothered me how it seems like pop culture appreciates her because sheās hot and thinks sheās just a petty manipulator. I see a lot more of an icon and wanted to paint her in a different light.Ā

The garden lasted a few months. Then, an agent of the townās housing authority found out about it and told my mother it was against the rules. āBut no oneās using the land,ā I remember her arguing. āThe kids in the neighborhood play there.ā The response was clear: Get rid of the garden or be evicted. Here was another one of those impossible choices of poverty. This was what my classmates would never understand, as they earnestly debated welfare fraud and the grasping desperation of the undeserving poor.
My mother stopped tending the garden and the next weekend a maintenance worker came and poured something onto the soil that made all the plants die and turned the grass brown.

Our forests are being cut down 3x faster than they can grow! One acre of hemp produces as much cellulose fiber pulp as 4.1 acres of trees!!! This is super useful for so many things, especially paper production!
