Happy pride night!!
okay can we talk about paige and azzi for a second
because the parasocial spiral around them has gotten genuinely unhinged. they should just address it. whatever “it” is.
not because the internet deserves an explanation (it doesn’t) but because controlling your own narrative is always more powerful than letting the internet write it for you. right now every vague instagram like, every sideline interaction, every post is getting forensically analyzed because there’s a vacuum of information and people are filling it.
that’s how parasocial relationships work. mystery creates obsession. uncertainty gives people something to project onto.
if they came out and said anything definitive — we’re best friends, we’re together, we’re figuring it out, none of your business — the speculation machine loses most of its fuel. you can’t theorize about something that’s already been stated plainly.
the “say nothing” strategy protects privacy in the short term but it feeds the exact behavior they probably want less of. the shippers and the obsessives thrive on ambiguity. take away the mystery and you take away a huge chunk of the fixation.
they’re two of the most visible women in basketball right now. they have the platform to set the terms. why let twitter/tumblr/tiktok set them instead?
just my opinion. they don’t owe anyone anything. but i genuinely think clarity would serve them better than silence.
