As a big legend of korra fan who was a middle schooler when it airred, the disrespect of the avatar franchise by executives should be studied. You sit on a gold mine and yet continuously try to sabotage every iteration of it.

From the original live action completely ignoring the creators leading to their leave, legend of korra not being renewed properly each time and them eventually forcing the final two seasons to stream only, the new live action once again making them creators leave due to creative differences, and now the leak. I'm so tired man. This is a big beloved franchise and they never seem to ever do enough for people to trust they can handle the story and let them create.

yeah ATLA to me suffers from the Star Wars problem, where you had a perfectly good functional story that was pretty straightforward in what it accomplished, but was such a big cultural moment that corporations couldn't help but piss on its grave with sequels and remakes and adaptions that each try way too hard and fail twice as hard to artificially recreate a time and feeling that can't exist again because it's been decades and the industry and culture has moved on and they don't understand what made the original thing good in the first place anymore and what they think made it good is built up entirely on a pedestal of nostalgia

byler is a genuinely good ship and the analysis is great, queer subtext is important to search for and understand BUT!!!!!!!! The byler fandom is incredibly obnoxious, they make it less about any of the reasons its good and more about slop that literally any two characters could fulfill.

Like 70% of byler fan media is out of character. in general i dont think ooc media is bad because you should be making art for yourself and what makes you happy not other people and what they think is in character. But it seems like in this fandom they don't even care about the original characters, they care more about overdone tropes.

And also it's like really weird when people love Will and Mike but none of the other characters, like the show is about outcasts but YES lets obsess over the white able-bodied guys of the group and completely neglect everyone else. "But they're gay" yeah Okay but if you care so much about queer rep you should also care about the other marginalized groups.
