The fandom is creepy asf about the actors and especially Finn and Noah too. They ship them, the reason that's bad is pretty self-explanatory. Even without that they're parasocial asf. I swear they stalk these guys. The actor x y/n fics that come up anytime you look in any of the tags for any of the Stranger Things characters Oh My God.

Dont even get me started on the death threat culture of this fandom. When Finn went on SNL I saw so many slurs and threats it was fucking insane. And I constantly see people threatening to like sneak into the Duffer's homes??? Okay??? Wtf!!! Even Stranger Things fan creators get death threats all the time. Does anyone remember One Wheat Mark? I do!!! It was just a freaky ass comic and people acted like the creator kidnapped their families and kicked their dogs. Bro didnt do anything 🥹

And all of the drama with Noah about him being a Zionist, which i agree is really bad but it seems like he's genuinely apologized for that stuff? Even if he HASNT the vilest sickest things get said about him, I cannot understand how you can post that stuff on Tumblr and then Go back to watching 12 year old Noah act out being Assaulted on screen for the whole world to see and go "aww ☹️☹️ wiw☹️☹️☹️".

People like to oversimplify the relationship between Will and Jane to perfect siblings when the reality is much more complex than that. The fandom often treats them as the same person in different fonts, especially because they styled them similarly in season 4 but that had the plot purpose of 1. Have it be seen that Jane has lived with the byers and adopted some of their traditions and 2. The whole Will-Mike-Jane love triangle. (This take is from a byler btw)

I wish people felt more comfortable to explore their feelings about each other without being scared of the reaction in the fandom.

Like imagine what it’s like for Will to go missing, be possessed and then when Jane comes back Mike is suddenly ditching him, his friends ignore him and then she even begins to live with him and he needs to see Mike keeping in touch with her while he feels he forgot about him.

Or for Jane how difficult it must be to live with the byers after hopper’s supposed death and not feel like she’ll ever be a true part of their family.

Not saying they hate each other!!! That’s not what I mean at all, not even close. But their relationship is more complex than “wonder twins” and it’s not like will’s relationship with Jonathan. It contains feelings of jealousy, confusion, commitment, care and understanding. Just because the duffers were too lazy to explore that on the show doesn’t mean we have to be.

This is The anon about Will and Jane just wanted to say that it wasn’t about ships or anything I mentioned byler so they would know it’s coming for one but I think it’s a discourse that’s relevant without any relation to the actual ships and I would really appreciate if you post it because I’m curious about people’s opinions on that🙏 thank you I love your blog

byler is a genuinely good ship and the analysis is great, queer subtext is important to search for and understand BUT!!!!!!!! The byler fandom is incredibly obnoxious, they make it less about any of the reasons its good and more about slop that literally any two characters could fulfill.

Like 70% of byler fan media is out of character. in general i dont think ooc media is bad because you should be making art for yourself and what makes you happy not other people and what they think is in character. But it seems like in this fandom they don't even care about the original characters, they care more about overdone tropes.

And also it's like really weird when people love Will and Mike but none of the other characters, like the show is about outcasts but YES lets obsess over the white able-bodied guys of the group and completely neglect everyone else. "But they're gay" yeah Okay but if you care so much about queer rep you should also care about the other marginalized groups.

hopper shouldve STAYED dead after s3 ended, the whole russian plotline made no sense and there are holes when you look deeper into it, and i think it was overall pointless—his death held no true emotional value, or had any real impact bc you found out he was alive like two minutes after he “died”

There's a new wave of anonymous accounts in the Stranger Things tags pretending to be other users and trolling with fake positivity and my hot take is that I don't know why anyone would find that funny.

you mean... in the conformitygate tag? i literally have no clue what you could be referring to if not that.

i just want to address something real quick.

this is a hot takes blog, not an anti conformitygate discussion board. being anti conformitygate is unfortunately not a hot take and it is the majority opinion in the stranger things fandom. let's be honest, people who believe in conformitygate have caught enough strays by now. you can keep talking about it on your own blogs, you're already preaching to the choir.

i could be wrong, but i also think the same person has been sending in some of these takes. i don't get what the goal is and it doesn't matter. we are seriously considering banning the topic altogether. if you're going to bring up conformitygate just to hate or complain about it and not bring up anything new or substantial, just don't send anything in.

I'm sure this has been said before, but it was not Will's birthday at the Rink O Mania incident. The Duffers clearly forgot and we should treat it that way unless they're implying that Will is being cosmically forgotten by the narrative...?

stranger things was best when it was about the Byers and the lack of Joyce and Jonathan in the new series shows how the writers have lost the plot and only care about fan service (cough cough Steve)

dunno if it’s a hot take but steve should’ve died. idk he should’ve actually fallen and died. or anyone could’ve died (besides jane i have a whole rant abt why killing jane was stupid and idiotic) please. we had NOTHING at stake in that finale and it’d be so much more interesting if they ACTUALLY killed a character or two. like YES kill someone so the audience feels like actual GENUINE fear for them!!!! maybe js a cold take tho ive seen this b4

Duffers didn’t know how to maintain the golden mean between a decent-quality sci-fi and an entertaining teenage coming-of-age drama, so we got neither.

dk if this has already been said but lucas sinclair was so underused as a character and a narrative device in the show but even as a fandom we don’t explore him as a character as much as we do the other three of the core four like guys we need to remember he literally lives right next door to mike they probably hung out almost every day and they’ve been friends since like 2nd grade like he’s a nerd too he’s not just a jock just because he plays basketball/is more athletic than the other three

we need more miwi + baby lucas hangout art/fics guys!!
