This silence is unsettling.

It was nights like these that Holden wished that he had the mutation of fur. Summer would be a killer agony but at least during the chillier times, he would be able to fair. As he bundled up into himself, in the dark corner of his own alleyway, his thoughts drifted off to the past. Just thinking about the scientists and the labs made a primal growl form at the base of his throat a snarl on his face, showing off his sharp canines. What a sight he must have been if someone were to have just walked by. It was his star quality that was his downfall. His fierce loyalty to offers was what had finally deemed him as a "reject." Thoughts of the beatings the scientists had issued upon him brought on phantoms throbbing to his arms and back. Which is where they had lashed upon him the most.

Holden was always ready to give himself up or use himself to protect the others during training. Never really thinking about himself. So then what would have happened if Holden had formed a loyalty to an enemy? Would he had turned on his own team to stay loyal to a companion on the other side? The scientists didn't want anything of the sorts to happen so then came the beatings, however, they could not beat the loyalty out of Holden. All they did was push Holden's loyalty deeper down into himself.

Coming back to present time, Holden shivered. Would he be in a warm bed now if he had just faked not being as loyal? Would he have been considered a "success" then? Well the past was the past. Now many don't see the former friendly and fiercely loyal boy but a grumpy, sarcastic street dog. However, Holden knew that once someone saw through his facade they would still see that fierce loyalty that had earned him all his scars.

He would give his life up for the friends he had now. Because that loyalty didn't die with scientists, it was still there. He would give up everything for those he was loyal to.

Maybe our paths just haven't seemed to have crossed as of late.

Well yes I've actually had a few errands to run. Which was quite surprising but good for because of the extra cash. Apart from that, I'm still my same old grumpy self.
