something that makes me feel crazy is seeing posts that are about how feminism isn't meant to include men, how they don't care how the patriarchy affects men, how men's struggles due to misogyny shouldn't be centred in feminist discussions - stuff that i obviously think is fine to say, and that i might agree with - if they were talking about cis men. then i click on the post's op and see the context that they're talking about how *trans* men shouldn't be included by feminism, how misogyny that affects *trans* men doesn't matter, how *trans* men shouldn't be thought about in feminism, how the patriarchy doesn't affect *trans* men in any meaningful ways, and i close tumblr for the day.

something i feel a lot of arguments about the oppression of trans men tend to miss when comparing us to men of other marginalisations is that the basis for our marginalisation is, in fact, our gender. trans men and transmascs are oppressed because of our gender identity, because we are transgender. the matter of trans male privilege is more complicated than comparing us to, to cite examples i see used commonly, cisgender disabled or racialised men, because the oppression they face is due to factors other than their gender identity. statements like 'arguing trans men don't have male privilege is the same as saying disabled men don't have male privilege' isn't true because of this - disabled men aren't oppression because of their gender and their maleness, while trans men are. (this is not to say that masculinity doesn't affect how ableism against disabled men takes form, just that it isn't the primary reason for marginalisation.)

this stuff might seem obvious. it probably is obvious, to the average person. i think a lot of discourse surrounding arguments that trans men aren't oppressed or that we massively benefit from male privilege comes down to people who spend a lot of their time in online overwhelmingly trans-friendly spaces where pronouns are consistently respected. i think people sometimes forget that in a transphobic society, trans men are not seen as men but as failed, broken women. someone who spends all their time in trans-supportive spaces where all trans people are consistently viewed as their gender might forget this on occasion. because i see trans men as men, the whole world must see them as men, and so on.

no. 1 - not harassment, awareness. no. 2 - the reason i post about the people i do has nothing to do with their gender. do you think people who talk about 'pedomisia' and how much they hate 'teleios' (people who aren't pedophiles) while calling for minors to interact with them, defend pedophiles and ADMITTED RAPISTS OF TRANS WOMEN, compare pedophiles getting therapy to queer conversion therapy, and surround themselves with people like this could pose a danger to others in their community? especially the trans community, and *especially* the transfem community on tumblr.

i care about my community very, very deeply, and i think the reason i talk about other trans people on here is because they pose the greatest danger to my sisters and brothers when they start spouting rhetoric like this. there are trans minors in these circles who talk about how proud they are that their closest friends are pedophiles, who are in the notes of every pedo kink post some of these accounts make, and that scares me. massively.

if you, a cis person, cared about the trans community at all, you would see someone defending pedophiles, defending rapists of trans women, declaring herself a pedophile, declaring that the rest of the world is the enemy of young trans girls and that the only people they can trust are the people in these very insular circles who hold those same beliefs, and you would be horrified.

yes transmisogyny is a massive, awful, real issue that affects millions of women around the world and puts their lives at risk every day. yes this site and its staff are biased against trans women and unfairly scrutinise and ban them. however - equating the site banning open pedophiles who post and post and post and remake so they can keep posting their sexual fantasies about kids, and who happen to be transfem, to transmisogyny is fruitless at best and actively detrimental to the trans community at worst.

sometimes it isn't about gender at all! sometimes it's about, you know, supporting people who tell the whole userbase on a public blogging site that they drive around playgrounds and schools to masturbate to children! transphobes and bigots have been trying to equate being trans, especially being transfem, to being a child predator for decades and sometimes it feels like half of this site's popular 'transfeminists' have just decided to hand them ammo on a silver fucking platter.

i keep wanting to block anything related to transandrophobia because it's just so overwhelming to be bombarded by nonsense. and yet i feel a sick voice telling me i am a bad person for avoiding political discussion - that i MUST subject myself to this or i am evil. yes i have ocd. knowing that doesn't help quiet the feeling.

this blog is how i don't go crazy. i'd seek out all these horrible things regardless, because (to my own disappointment) i am a massive drama fiend - this gives me somewhere to vent about the worst bits.

as someone with ocd i know it might not mean much but it doesn't make you a bad person to not look! i've had to block all terms relating to my worst intrusive thoughts from my phone to try and stop triggering it and it helps a bunch.

this is probably (hopefully) the last thing i'll say on this whole puppygirl essay situation.

there are too many people taking those essays (and the brand new one that came out this morning - what a surprise!) seriously. they are not serious works. sure, their impact can be serious, especially on here, as they're lashing out at a very vulnerable group - but they are not serious works.

they're a total of like twenty five thousand words of barely edited ai slop, all generated within a two day period, that people for some reason keep trying to analyse and respond to like the texts themselves matter at all. they don't! they're a sad lying grifter's deplorable attempt to ragebait/suibait marginalised people into giving her attention and then directing that attention towards her bank account. that is legitimately all they are. why do you think the were posted when her book was just coming out? all of these obtuse responses on her blog are more of the same.

i'm not trying to say that the impact they had on vulnerable people on here wasn't serious, because i've seen too many girls saying they've self-harmed or been sent into a spiral over especially the first one, but like. the actual texts, the literature that is being generated, do not deserve a second of your time and attention. their supposed author couldn't even be bothered to write them!

Even beyond any of the content in Tara's articles (of which I agree with you, I think they're likely all at least AI-assisted, it's obvious to anyone that reads fiction) the sheer volume at which she puts them out is near impossible, in my view.

Not a single academic I know can write an 8k word essay in a day, especially one that has citations that you, ya know, had to read. The idea that she's writing one essay a day? Unbelievable. I've spent the better part of the last month working on a conference paper that's around 3.5k words, and it's still not error-free, unlike what Tara is producing.

She's not a real academic, nor does she need to be. I'm not upset that she's generating essays because of concern for academic integrity, but because (again, like you said) she's gifting money from a vulnerable group. What a horrible, fucked up thing to do.

yeah. the speed at which she's supposedly 'writing' all of this is, um. unrealistic? especially given she said the puppygirl essays were both written last night--
