Since I've been in healthcare for a while, it's always a little jarring and a lot disappointing when other services/industries don't have HIPAA equivalent protections and privileges. What do you MEAN I can't demand to see all the information my landlord has on me and all the notes they've made about me? That seems basic as all hell. What do you MEAN I just have to assume all my personal information that I yield to one party is going to be given to whoever the fuck else.
Not that HIPAA is perfect, perfectly adhered to, or perfectly enforced, but the principles laid out there seem pretty fucking obviously applicable to any business or service interaction where privileged personal information is exchanged.
I wouldn’t brag about working in healthcare these days. Especially with the healthcare industry fucks over everybody.
