House Cleaning
I was thinking about why cleaning the house was a great relaxation technique. Maybe the cleaner smells take me back to my first enlistment as a firefighter? We used Simple Green to clean everything in the fire house, but Air Force would buy whole sale. There was a large 55 gallon drum with a hand pump covered in warning labels tucked in a closet, so safety inspectors couldn't find it. "Extreme concentrated solution!" Mix with water, don't splash each other, and try not to drink. We used Simple Green on floors, walls, kitchen, bathroom, gym equipment, dusting, as coffee creamer, and more. I love the smell. It brings me back to the simpler days in the beginning of my military career. When I clean the house now it relaxes me...listening to Slacker radio's Frontline Radio station. Dedicated music that Veterans listened to while deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. They share war stories from the soldiers before pounding out the latest war related song that touched their heart. Combine that with smells of cleaning solutions and I'm in a happy place. Back to the basics.
