It’s my first weekend off in about a month and I’m having a hard time relaxing. I needed the break, but my homesickness is hitting me hard. I haven’t felt it like this in a long time, and my first instinct is just to quit my job and go back home. I haven’t lived there since I joined the Army in 2018–2024.

I miss my nephews and niece a lot, and I keep feeling like I’m missing out on their lives because we’re so far apart and I’m out here working. At the same time, I really do love my job out here, so I decided to stay in the PNW, which makes everything feel kind of fucked up and hard to sort through. I don’t really understand why it’s coming up so strongly right now.
