I’m obsessed with the fact that Lovely Writer has a dark plot and manipulative male lead, but it’s not clear to Gene or the audience because everything about Nubsib is so pink and sparkly. He’s the definition of “you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”. He doesn’t need to force Gene or be aggressive because he’s so good at playing the wolf in sheep’s clothing that he can make Gene do whatever he wants.

It feels like meta commentary on how the male leads of most BL dramas often have these traits but we as viewers don’t notice or even care because of sound affects and pretty lighting.

Nubsib tricked his way into Gene’s home within a week of meeting him.

Nubsib knew that Gene likes a mountain of jam on his toast. How did he know that?

Nubsib tricked Gene into doing everything he wanted him to do and was so good at it that he made Gene think it was his own idea, like the kiss.

Gene isn’t the slightest bit aware of Nubsib’s manipulativeness because Gene is too naive and because Nubsib plays “innocent” very well. But he’s obviously anything but.
