Last page I drew a wide shot of Angel island, which was easily the second most difficult panel so far.

I actually spent a fair bit of time discussing locals and routes with a friend. These are early sketches, but as you can see I actually went as far as planning out routes that were taken to try and make it more accurate. Initially it was based off the sprite from S&K3 with the shrine pulled from SA1, as that was what felt most accurate. However as I continued to sketching the pages I went back and changed the altar to match what it looks like in divergence, including things such as the lake. Figured if SEGA only recently started paying attention to continuity then newer was probably better.

that said, carnival night zone is omitted. For all the crazy stuff I have planned for this comic lore wise, even I can’t explain away that one.

Largely because I don’t want to. Heck that stage.

soooo i picked up sonic adventure again and rediscovered some of my favorite characters

I remember even as a kid finding Tikal's story extremely endearing. It's not complicated or philosophical because its, well, childrens media, but it's tragic, and it's solid. The realization that chaos 0 was the victim of a warlord's greed and retaliated in anger after its bretheren were killed will always get me, I can't not cry at the final story cutscene.

With the help of my friend Fraz, I looked at the garments of Aztec royalty and tried to do my take on a more detailed Tikal based on them

I also Species Swapped the two of them; Tikal as an Ancient and Chaos as an Echidna.

MILESTONE: Prologue Finished!

Decided since I finished it just now to throw up the whole prologue n take the rest of the month off! With this we now move into the comic proper, and thus a new schedule thats much less hard on me to keep up.

Starting April, LGG is going to be moving too at LEAST one page a month. I apologize deeply for the slow pace, however between concerns with the world and tons of other projects on top of my lack of experience running something like this, i feel this is the best I’ll be able to comfortably manage with no issues. I also want to stress the “at least” part of that sentence, because believe you me I would like to get a move on too and if I can find time to fit a second page in the month I will definitely be doing that. But 1 page a month will be the minimum ant least until I get within striking distance of a breakpoint or chapter end, at which point well move back to weekly. Ideally pace will speed up as I improve my own skills and we can get to chapter two by this time next year.

In the downtime between pages, im hoping to be able to provide side content like sketches, wips, teasers, or other fun forms of engagement such as answering questions or addressing feedback, maybe even with said sketches themselves. Ive gotten a fair bit of traction for a fan work centering on such niche characters but im well aware of how devoted echidna & Chaos fans are, so I want to be able to create something I know yall will appreciate. With luck I hope this comic will be something im able to work on for a long time to come, as I have tons of ideas and plans for the future i can’t wait to explore! The biggest hurdle will simply be getting there, so I thank all of you for your patience as we go and invite anyone curious or interested to send in asks of any kind. I’ll answer them as I go.

And of course, I deeply appreciate everyone who’s made attempts to share this work. If I have one goal with this comic it’s to fuel more interest and spark more conversation surrounding these lesser realized characters. So thank you for each and every like, reblog, repost, comment, everything both up until and from now on! You’ve helped motivate me to continue going more than you’ll ever know!

Intro

HOWDY ALL! This is the REAL home page for the fan work Long Gone Guardians, and I'm its artist/writer Norou! I made an intro on the other two cites before finding both of their image hosting and tagging to be… uh… awful. So I moved here after realizing it’d probably be the best place to host it anyway.

for those who happened to know or recall the old asksnarkychaos/perfectdownpour chaos RP blog, welcome! Yes it is me, no this isnt the same character, BUT it will borrow some loose concepts as this comic is the result of a several year long rework of ideas i developed there into the canon Sonic the hedgehog universe. I am a huge fan of Tikal and Chaos, and bigger fan of the series’ lore, and wanted a way to show my affection for those characters in a way that felt worth the effort Ive put into them. This comic is intended to coexist with the canon series, but obviously I do not own these characters nor have any relation to Sega or the series current writers at all. Im just a guy with ideas and pencil, but I hope fellow enthusiasts like me will find and enjoy this work all the same! Thanks for reading, now enjoy!
